No, but WB isn't going to be doing the bitstarved lossy stuff any longer either, since there's no need to pander to the look and sound of good enough any more
Do you think that New Lines films will still be distributed by Enterainment in Video or directly by WB?

Say it again Wicky, say it again. Or is it play it again. Either way, that knowledge is priceless. I mean what's the point of hi-def, if only the video is hi-def and the audio is just deaf... i mean def.

I'll believe it when I see *and* hear it.

Warner had plenty of room to put lossless audio on virtually every BD title they released... yep they held back lossless (often on both formats) needlessly time and time again.

When we stop seeing lossy-only audio from Warner and get lossless on every BD title, I'll know that things have changed.

good point boulet. I know I should think that way, but I am hoping WB will only give lossless now that they have no more excuses, with the extinction of HD-DUD.

I know Bob Shaye really championed the Nightmare Series. I hope we get one last proper Freddy sequel before they go the remake route and before Robert Englund calls it quits.

I wouldn't count on it. Wasn't the excuse for not releasing many titles that profile 1.1 wasn't ready? It has been ready for two months now. Has WB released a 1.1 title? Sony, Fox, Lionsgate, etc all had titles lined up.

I would have thought WB would have been first in line considering what a big deal they made about it when it wasn't ready.

I have to agree with you David, when I see it I'll believe it. They are still announcing titles with lossy-only sound. It's a shame really, because I don't own many Warner titles for that reason. Bill said on his site that in talks with Warner on their anniversary celebration night, that they hear the message loud and clear, so I am assuming the titles being announced now have already been in the planning stages and couldn't be changed. Until they add lossless, I don't desire many of their titles and have many more from the other studios, Disney, MGM, Fox and Disney get it, lossless every single time! Now if they would only re-do the older titles like the first 2 Superman movies, Phantom of the Opera, ect. it would be nice. Even their newest release, Michael Clayton has only lossy.

Default 'Sin City' on blu-ray?

Bill,

Any news on this title coming to blu-ray? I remember seeing the Buena Vista Blu-ray promo that showcased 'Sin City' back in Feb. 07, but no news since.

Thanks.

As I suggested in Penton's thread...my guess is you'll be waiting until the sequel.

Yes Geoff this is true that my sister works at Paramount Home Video, but I have stated previously in the thread that I am respecting the fact this is Bill's insider thread and I won't hi-jack it. I also don't think my sister would appreciate my publicly letting out title information and dates, especially before Paramount makes the announcements themselves... All I will say is that very soon you will be quite pleased. Sorry I can't help any further right now.

Unfortunately missing any lossless are the 3 released Superman films (includes the new one)< Happy Feet, Ant Bully, Phantom of the Opera, The Lake House, Michael Clayton, Battle of the Bulge, Blazing Saddles, and about 80% of their other releases

Mntwister:

I wasn't looking to hijack Bill's thread or put you in bad spot -- sorry if it seemed that way. Thanks for the insight you were able to provide.

Isn't it funny how time changes perspective? If you told me after Paramount defected that on March 4 we would be waiting to hear their blu-ray plans I would have been surprised. It has seemed for the last few months, at least, that a major announcement was a daily event. Now we are waiting for Paramount and Universal to make some title announcements it feels like it is dragging out eventhough the death of HDDVD happened so quickly and resolutely. Its all so exciting in a very geeky sort of way!

"What about this one?"

Aiman,

I said:

"When we stop seeing lossy-only audio from Warner and get lossless on every BD title, I'll know that things have changed."

WB has always tossed out a lossless bone on the random title. They need to give us lossless on EVERY disc (PCM, TrueHD, or DTS-HD MA... as long as it's lossless).
