It does have the best sword fight on film.

Warrior. I felt like the trailer gave away the movie so I had no interest in watching it. Decided to give it a shot and rent it one day and now its one of my favorite movies.

Iron Man. Judging from the trailer I saw, it looked like it would probably be another mediocre comic book movie. A buddy of mine dragged me to see it at the theater, and I'm glad he did. It's my favorite of the marvel films.

The most recent example is 'Snow White and the Huntsman'. My better judgement told me to avoid that film like the plague but I really enjoyed it.

I had no intentions of seeing The Smurfs but my 9 year old niece wanted to see it so I took her and ended up kind of liking it actually.

one day I had a marathon of Harry Potter 1-3 and kind of got burnt out and found them too long and boring. I thought I'd give Deathly Hallows 1 and 2 a try and ended up loving those and now I appreciate all the previous Harry Potters too.

The Artist. I really don't care for black and white movies and silent movies and I thought I would be bored but it turns out I really enjoyed the Artist and so did my 9 year old niece.

This is one of mine as well. It really wasn't something that I thought I would care much for. My wife was very interested in it, but never got around to seeing it in the theater, so I did buy the Blu-Ray for her (since I order them/pick them up on a fairly regular basis). I watched it with her and was surprised how much I ended up liking it.

One that goes quite a few years back to the late 90s is Romy & Michele's High School Reunion. The trailers and commercials just looked awful to me. Shortly after it was initially released on video, I was hanging out with a friend of mine and he had rented a couple of movies for us to watch, this being one of them. I remember asking, "Why did you rent THIS?!" He replied saying that he had heard it was pretty good. So we watched it, and I was pleasantly surprised, and I fully admitted that I was wrong about the movie. I bought it on DVD at one point many years ago, and I recently got the Blu-Ray.

The Avengers - I thought it was going to be another overblown action fest riding on the success of Iron Man. Was I wrong. They did an excellent job sharing all the screen time among the many characters and the action, although a lot of CGI, was very well done. It's now one of my favorite comic movies.

Gangs of New York - I hated it the 1st time around. I think I was expecting something different. I watched it again recently after about 5 years and I liked it.

Batman Begins.

I actually didn't even see it until it was only showing once per day, and started at a later hour (10 or 11 pm) than other films at the cineplex. It may have had another week before it was gone.

Hooooboy, was I ever wrong. I absolutely loved it, and both sequels, too. BB was/is nearly the perfect Batman film.

Interesting. I really DO love silent films, which is probably the reason I found The Artist to be such a travesty, and a joke of an "homage" to the basic tenets of 30 years of storytelling. Just another in the long line of PR campaigns that help it win unnecessary awards over the more deserving films, and in retrospect, makes Hollywood look dumb for honoring it.

The Amazing Spider-Man. I thought it was way too soon for a reboot, I was used to seeing Tobey as Peter Parker, and I have always despised The Lizard as a villain. Well, I wound up liking this new guy a lot more than Tobey as Parker, felt that the reboot was actually superior to Raimi's original Spidey movie and...well...I still don't like The Lizard, but two out of three ain't bad.

#1 - A.I Artificial Intelligence.

Though in truth what makes that movie is Teddy, how sweet the mother is, and for effect, Robin Williams.

#2 - V for Vendetta.

Seeing the trailer just seemed all arty and cheesy at once. The real movie was far cooler, more intense and on blu-ray I LOVE weavings voice and the overall tone/pace of the film.

Most recent one for me is Ted. I remember saying how stupid the trailers looked. Markie Mark fighting a teddy bear. Lol. Ended up seeing it for free at the show and thought it was pretty funny.

The other guys

I really hate will farrell and haven't really liked Marky Mark since boogie nights. But my girlfriend made me watch it and I adored it.

Made me also really dig will Farrell enough to watch his other stuff and really enjoy them too

Well, to be honest . . . I thought "Tangled" was going to be . . . meh for me but there were many who wanted to watch it so I went with everyone . . . and wow! The movie was great! Haven't seen a good Disney movie in a long while . . . but definitely one of my favorites.

Men in Black 3, everybody told me the ending saved it, but I liked it as a whole. I think it's the best out of the 3.

Waiting... Looked like garbage to me but a buddy drug me to it and I laughed the whole time. Definitely a movie for those in the service industry. Also really enjoyed Battleship. Got a free ticket so said screw it. With expectations that low you can't be disappointed but it turned out to be a hell of a fun time.
