The person was Michael Eisner. He insisted on it. The original plan was to tell the movie without dialog. Eisner nixed it, and that's what killed the movie (in my opinion). I met one of the producers at Disney/MGM (when it was still Disney/MGM), and he asked me what I thought about Dinosaur. I told him the film was gorgeous, I just thought the dinosaurs should have been silent. "Well, they're going to do that." he said. I then brought up Bambi, how there's comparatively very little dialog, and his eyes sort of glazed over as he stared at me.

He actually looked a little sad and regretful, come to think of it...
