There's no extra colour information in a BD as opposed to a DVD. The transfers may however be better than DVD, so you may end up with better colour representation from that. The big improvement is clarity in picture.

BD is a High Definition format (ATSC), whereas DVD is Standard Definition (NTSC). Hi Def (ATSC) has an expanded color gamut and is much more realistic looking. It's one the criteria I look for in an HD image.

Color is definitely one of the areas of improvement in picture quality that Blu-ray offers.

I've did some adjusting with the Sony, and the picture is really nice. Earlier, I played a music SD, and the picture appeared to almost look HD. Is that something normal, or is it all in how it was shot? No complaints here, I just feel that ignorance is a thing that can be avoided given a choice
