I think it was more of an oversight than censorship. I'll never part with my discontinued season 1 though.

I would get both of these seasons on Blu as a blind buy. But these prices....they're too damn high.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up!

This will be exciting.
Where did you get this information from? I'm always searching for info about an estimated release date and I would love to hear some good news, but I haven't found much more than this from Wiki:

Quote:
Martin believes the two last volumes of the series will be big books of 1500+ manuscript pages each. By October 2012, 400 pages of the sixth novel had been written, although Martin considers only the first 200 as "really finished", the rest still needing revisions.

In the past, Martin has angered some of his fan base for repeatedly estimating his publication dates too optimistically; therefore, he has refrained from making hard estimates for The Winds of Winter's final release date.
If anything, it seems like he's slowing down:

A Game of Thrones - August 1996
A Clash of Kings - February 1999 (30 months later)
A Storm of Swords - November 2000 (21 months later)
A Feast for Crows - November 2005 (60 months later)
A Dance with Dragons - July 2011 (68 months later)

Great review, Ken! As always, you've covered all the bases -- and tactfully (and wisely) addressed the universal complaint of Season Two being contextually weaker than Season One without allowing it to devolve into a rant-filled laundry list. (As most fans - and perhaps others reviewers - will tend to do.) Your last sentence of the first paragraph matches my sentiments exactly, and given the high marks on the technical and extras front, I think the set is more than deserving of its five point grade.

They only deleted the stuff because they talked about it on the commentary track and a sh*t storm ensued.

They then trimmed the footage and re-released. That is the definition of censorship.

Just saw this at walmart for a preorder price of $34.96, wandering if amazon will drop their price of $49.99 to 34.96? I have it preordered but will cancel and purchase at walmart if amazon does not follow suit.

Well S2 will most likely be $34.99 at BB, they might even have the first season on sale for that price as well.

Has anyone heard of what the sales price will be on Feb 19th for this set? I know the first season was $34.99 the first week, but it did not have the DVD and Digital copies.

darn! your right, just checked my season one that I got from amazon with their preorder ($34.99)and its only the blu ray discs, no dc or dvd. I'll have to run to my local walmart and double check that $34.96 preorder price and make sure its the same as the one on amazon.

That's only because HBO hadn't started releasing Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy sets when season one was originally released. Every single season set for a major HBO show that's been released since they started doing the combo packs has been $34.99 during release week. There's no reason to think this release will be any different.

Cheers, my friend. This turned out to be great advice. I was out today, figured I'd swing by FYE on the way home. They had a used Targaryen edition I paid $48 flat for. It seems to be in excellent shape. I'm gonna keep an eye on the eBay auctions I'm watching to see how much I "saved."

Thanks again!

That's why I grabbed the Collector's Edition for $39.99. Came with a cool dragon egg paperweight!

Gave the previous edition to my mom.

Thanks for the heads up

I hate that Future Shop will not automatically give you the lowest price. You have to cancel and re-order or tussel with customer service...

This will be $29.99 at Target during release week!

Taken from the Target Ad 2/17-2/23 thread created by bainbridge's_stache in the deals forum:

It will be interesting to see if Best Buy tries to match it, or if they stick with their usual $34.99. I'm more interested in bonus video content that an exclusive cover anyway, so I just might have to go for this Target edition (especially since I'm planning on picking up the Target exclusive for Argo the same day).

For those of us that did the Wal*Mart Pre-Order, will we be able to get a Price Match?

My guess is that you won't be able to. You've already purchased the pre-order, and it was a store exclusive pre-order with early access to some content via Vudu. Wal-Mart could easily and accurately say it's not the same thing as the Target release. And your copy of the physical set isn't coming from your local Wal-Mart store that will price match Target. It's coming from Vudu/Wal-Mart.com, neither of which price match Target. You may have purchased the pre-order in an actual store, but you purchased an online pre-order.

You could always give it a shot, but I'd say it doesn't seem likely.
