But Thailand is in the same region code A. There are only 3 region codes for BD, how can buying from the local division be the reason for it.

I thought region coding is for when that other region is still playing the movie in theaters, the studio will want you to go see it in theaters first instead of at home.

Maybe someone else knows better, but as fair as I am aware, FOX doesn't have an exchange program set up yet for anyone.

You're correct on theatrical releases

But in this case Fox wants you to buy from Fox Thailand (or a subsidiary that owns the title there).

For example:

Die Hard- In the US it's $39.99 each and $129.99 for the boxset
In Japan- $180 and $50 each

Both region A

Fox wants them to buy from Fox Japan, not Fox US. 6 regions ended up being pretty impractical. They get the same effect as region coding by limiting the dub and sub tracks on the DVDs. If people can't understand it, they won't buy it (90% of people anyway).

Sounds good. I guess next is do we know if the bad copies have been recalled from store shelves? I've been holding off buying Die Hard (and Terminator 3 as well) until I know corrected versions are on the shelves.

I bought Die Hard 2 in the U.S. & the same thing. No DTS-HD MA track even though it lists one. I contacted Fox & got put on a list but no information as to how long or how they would be replacing it.

BVHE was kind enough to send me the replacement copy of POTC-1 to my Japan address. They asked me to discard or dump the mis-framed version.

FOX as usual is notorious and unhelpful when it comes to CS.

No, they'll let it bleed out. The number of customers who will notice/care is so small that it's not worth the time/money for a recall

Each studio is allowed to handle region coding any way they wish. Fox region codes all discs, even back catalog titles, which obviously are not in theaters anywhere.
