That may very well be, but they can't change that inept and mediocre story no matter how hard they try. Graphics and lighting may change, but that terrible story will always be there, no fixing that I'm afraid.

Everything I've read about the game (reviews) say the story is fine and there is a lot of fan service but the AI and graphics are crap.

The story is terrible and a slap in the face to anyone who loves the movie Aliens. And who wrote the dialog for this game? It reeks of sloppy and lazy writing. Yes there are some "fan service" moments, but this does NOT make it a good game. You would be better off taking your money and flushing it down the nearest toilet.

One example of the terrible writing: "We will wait for you, but damn it, don't make us wait for you!" Whoever wrote this line deserves some kind of idiot award.
