smp, are you Region B or Region A. If you are Region A, you'll have to let us all know that this is truly safe to purchase!

I own a region switchable player. I will check the disc for region lock/50hz content.

I got the disc today. It is region free (ABC). No 50Hz content. DC and International versions look good.

Excellent, thank you for doing that . I believe you purchased the release from France, correct? Is it safe to assume the standalone German DC release is going to be region-free as well? I'm trying to save a few bucks here, as all I really want is the DC.

No one quite knows regarding the German release. I've heard Region B-locked, which would be in line with the German distributors track record.

The French release is probably as good as it is going to get for us Americans. Universal hates the film and unless someone like Scream Factory gets a hold of it (which is still possible, considering the dual Halloween 2 blus out there), these multiple versions will stay across the pond.

OK, thanks WorkShed...and yes, I agree. I just saw that there was a price drop on the French release...I'm placing an order (again, thank you for the tech specs and info smp ). Those screenshots look plenty good to me, and I'd imagine the German release is going to be very similar in its appearance.

As much as I'm not a huge fan of the TC (and have never seen the IC), since I will be getting all three, I will watch them all and post my thoughts on how they compare to the Region A Universal Blu (which I owned previously and then sold), as well as the R3 MGM DVD (which I still currently own). Looking forward to it!

I just pulled the trigger as well. With the removable subtitles, HD audio, and three versions plus features, it's hard for me to say no. Especially since the German special edition costs $20 more and has 4 discs that would be worthless to me if I wanted the three versions (let alone if the BDs are Region-A friendly).

Everybody focuses on the fact that there are three separate encodes on the BD-50, however the Canada Halloween 6/H20/Resurrection disc does look quite good. The movie versions are each quite short. Sure, it's not the best it could be, but it might be the best we get for a long while. Again, this is without another company like Scream Factory or even Criterion (stifle that laughter!) handling it in America.
