Marvel. They're doing it right.

Absolutely. Marvel has some of the most top notch casting in when it comes to their films. They rarely let me down in that regard.

What a terrible decision! I'm truly furious! Kevin Feige should pull his finger out of his $%^&, and get out of that swimming pool of cash that unfortunately only gets deeper when he pulls off dip$%^& moves like this, and %^&*'s up one of everybody's favourite childhood franchises!

[Show spoiler]Sorry, there's usually one person who's unhappy about something like this by now, but it seems the casting might just be so perfect, it has failed to infuriate anyone just yet? I don't know anything about these guys, but I can't wait to find out about them in this film! I'm positive it will rock...

I feel like 'Guardians' is actually shaping up to be one of the most exciting Phase 2 films right now. I'm seriously getting pumped for it.

That's probably because everything else is a sequel. I'm no sequel hater, I just think this is the most exciting because it's the most mysterious to me.

As I said before, It's not just not a sequel, it's not characters I'm familiar with. This is probably why I'm so pumped for Pacific Rim. Brand new monsters (although, I'm having a feeling Cthulhu will be in it...)!

That's actually not it for me. The one I'm most excited about right now is 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'. I think it's more the grand, sci-fi space opera that this one is promising to be. We don't get enough of those. I'm also really happy to see 'Guardians' finally getting their due. I just want to see Rocket Raccoon on the big screen. What can I say, I'm a bit of a fanboy at times.

Latest casting choice = Who cares. Not a fan of this Saldana girl, she's way too small and skinny to pull off this "deadliest woman" thing. With that said, I'm willing to give every Marvel movie a chance even if I don't know a single thing about GOTG. At this point, anything is more interesting and unique than Captain America.

I watched The Avengers the other night and couldn't do anything else but smile at the end credits scene. I am getting excited for this movie.

I'm always up for space epics. Which makes me wonder;

If Jack The Giant Slayer fails at the box office (or has it already?), do we not get Battlestar Galactica, or almost as bad, do we get a Battlestar Galactica movie with a pitiful budget, because no one will trust Bryan Singer with hundreds of millions?

She'll be motion captured, and they'll add additional muscles where required.

Yes, but being guided by Marvel and Joss Whedon.

I think we're in good hands.

Well, it decreased whatever fun was in Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

(I never did see his "PG Porn" web-series, so can't comment on that.)

While some of their films have featured lesser-known characters (like Iron Man), GotG is almost completely unknown outside of hardcore comics people, and they are a little more out-there (not to mention silly-looking).

If Marvel does proceed with a film based on this, they certainly should not try to position it as a major blockbuster release, because it won't be. On the contrary, I would think it will not do well at all.
lol I agree! I didn't even know about this. I read the thread title, and I thought it was a sequel to Rise of the Guardians! haha

Most people don't remember that Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America were all B list superheroes that most of the general public didn't know about before their films. But Marvel made it work. Just because its unknown doesn't mean it'll flop. I really don't understand the people calling for its failure, or hoping it'll flop, already. Has Marvel let you guys down in the past? I think they've earned the benefit of the doubt at this point. Just look at how awesome the concept art looks. Give the film a chance before condemning it.

Very wise post...however, I see a picture of a raccoon sporting a gun and being a badass, and the first thing I think about is this...

I also think the movie will flop money wise but will be good movie wise. Those new concept art photos look great!

As long as they attach this and Ant-Man to the Phase 2 line then it should work, they just need to make sure people know that.
