I'd buy that.

Question for you seasoned Trek owners: how do the steaming HD episodes on Amazon compare to the Blu-rays? I've watched one episode and thought it looked pretty good.

I bought the streaming version of 11001001 from Amazon, and the compressed videos offered on Amazon are nothing compared to the actual blu-rays... and in the end buying them all will cost about the same as the blu-rays, if not more... since many of the retail prices are really cheap compared to the list price... I mean, $2 and something per episode on Amazon if you don't have a premium account, I think it's $2.40 per episode... would total you $62.40 for 26 episodes...

Thanks for the response! I figured the difference would be notable. I'll be buying the BOBW disc next week to finally see how it looks on BD.

BTW, seasons 1 & 2 are available for free in HD with Amazon Prime.

Well, Adam over at TrekCore has uncompressed screencaps in his review...

For example:

Well, "free" in that you don't have to pay for them when you get them, they're paid for via Amazon's Prime premium membership... so in a round about way, you're paying for them.

I guess it is becoming a trend... releasing those cliffhangers as a separate disc too.

I haven't decided about "Best of Both Worlds" but I know I won't be doing it for every remaining season.

Oh, and is it just me... or are all the sets going to be green boxes now?

What happened to the rainbow of colors? Seems like every picture of the next season I see is another green!

As said on the page, the box art is subject to change... It went Red (Season 1), Yellow-Orange (Season 2), Yellow which changed to a less than pretty cammo green color (Season 3), now this sea green-teal color (Season 4)...

I think they're just running the same colours as the re-release DVD sets here in Australia/UK:

In this case they seem to be reordering them into a flowing colour gamut instead of the all over the place approach with the DVDs. I wouldn't be surprised if the end result was something like this:

Burgundy > Citrine > Fern Green > Mint > Sky Blue > Navy Blue > Amethyst

"Pretty good" isn't good enough for me. Also, when you stream them you don't get 7.1 lossless audio, audio commentaries, or any of the extras. I have a very nice audio system and a dedicated home theater room, so I want the very best source material I can get. I can't imagine why any real Trek fan would settle for the streamed version.
