It's a promotional image used during production of Evil Dead II from the end of the movie.

That said, the image is more associated with Army of Darkness.

I like the Chainsaw on the spine. Nice touch. You can bet it's the same disc plonked in the case.

Well I have the old original UK blu-ray, but if this is the new disk, I'm 100% in. Was going to get it anyway, but I prefer the SteelBook are to the skull art.

Yeah you're right. Just watched it again and that Castle is behind him at the end but he doesn't pull that pose for the camera... maybe it's a production still or publicity shot? Sure some Evil Dead expert will be alone shortly to explain.

I've found this German lobby card so looks like it was used as a publicity image (bit spoilerish to do so if you ask me!)

I think I've figured it out. The image selected doesn't appear in ED2 the movie but is a promo shot or from a deleted shot from that film. In ED2 you never see Ash brandish the boomstick over his head in that pose, though you can tell from the background and his hair that it is ED2 era, and obviously from the medieval end bit of ED2 when he shoots the flying demon. The reason it's confusing is because Ash does strike that pose in Army Of Darkness in the iconic boomstick from s-mart speech scene. So my OCD is satisfied and am now going to preorder

no its from ED2.

but yeah this thing is fugly, what a letdown. wish the back was the front.

Good thing zavvi lets you cancel and order. If it ends up being region locked (which most likely it will be), gonna have to cancel it.
