Due to how much the first one has sold so far on blu ray, Yes it will be at some point.

When nobody knows, but I'm fairly certain it will be soon. The first one is selling wonderfully on blu ray

You should define soon then. Year minimum, and I'm sure that WB is not going to be able to buy the first one without taking a huge chunk of the rest of the catalog with it.

Actually you used soon first..

With warner brother really emerging into the blu ray market again, and announcing the previous HD titles, I feel that soon will be within the next year for japan, and maybe a year and a half for america.

The anime titles for the most part don't come over to america, and if they do they're a pain in the ass to find at local retail stores. It took me like three weeks to find paprika and tekkonkinkreet anywhere at retail.. ended up going to borders and paying out the freaking ass for them, it was worth it.

I think that if the anime titles continue to sell like Appleseed, and future ones do as well, then WB will start releasing more of the anime catalog soon. Ive been hoping for spirited away and howl's moving castle, but odds are they will be far away, or japan will get them and we won't.

No one at this point knows what WB has to do to be able to release the first one, however with the way sales are going, I wouldnt' be surprised if they do in fact announce they will release it for the near future. I know the movies can be watched independently from eachother, but fans want to see the first one before the second (granted not many people know that ex machina wasnt the first one..)

And the Japanese version will likely not contain English

Well they'll come here, depending on who owns them

They don't have an anime catalog. They own Castle of Cagliostro and Grave of the Fireflies in Japan

Yes we do. They need to purchase the US license from Geneon. Since the entire US anime division has essentially been scuttled, that would likely involve WB purchasing their entire catalog, since it's one of the most valuable assetts. Given that WB is supposedly making the mistake of making an Akira live-action movie, they'd also desire that (but Bandai Visual has the HD rights to that)
