I doubt we will see a Kara Zor-El movie unless the DCU filmverse explodes off of Man of Steel, hopefully they will take the success of the Nolanverse as a sign that people want DC characters on the big screen. Want at least a Superman trilogy out of Snyder, a 6 film saga would be great though. So many Superman characters and villains have yet to be done in live action and Snyder is the director to make it happen.

I would imagine the second would be LEX

Anything after that has to be one of DARKSEID or DOOMSDAY. I would prefer Doomsday if this ends in 3 films.

Was never into Doomsday -- the whole "death of Superman" cycle really left a bad taste in my mouth. Darkseid's not a favorite, either.

Brainiac and Lex (and kryptonite) seems to be the logical choice for the sequel.

I just feel that the importance of having a villian that just seems so unstoppable is the way to go. Makes you wonder throughout the film just how something can be killed. And DOOMSDAY is that character. And maybe he can be reborn in the justice league movie?

It would be cinematically impossible to JUST have Doomsday as only villain - he's nothing but a super-strong monster with no depth. To use him in a movie, he would have to be the "weapon" to some other main villain - sort of like those multiplying monsters in Hellboy.

How about Lex Luthor as a villain not in the traditional sense, but as someone who is against Superman and what Superman possibly represents. Luthor as the misguided protector of Earth and mankind, like The Illusive Man/Cerberus in Mass Effect. Metallo can be the bad guy, but Luthor is the one pulling his strings.

Since the chief complaints from critics regarding MoS seems to be too much action and not enough character development (in the emotional sense), I hope the sequel does a good job of building on a relationship between Lois and Superman.

I wonder if they was a directive to stay away from the Lois and Clark stuff. Wanting to distance itself from Returns, which was favorably reviewed, but didn't do enough box office. When it comes to movies like this for studios it's all about the $$$$$. They don't care if reviews are low. They want the general audience to eat it up. So we get mega action. I think we will get more Lois and clark in the next one. Being that the fist movie is always the hardest to get off the ground.

I'm glad to see some people liking MOS. I've seen quite a few negative postings. We'll see what box office numbers will be after a few more weeks.

After reading the posts on here, I'm going to wait till MOS comes out on video. I'll definitely rent it first.

Luthor needs to be the focus of the sequel. Its vital they get him established before a justice League movie.

For those who think he will be a lame villain - remember this isnt the Donner films

I have a feeling Snyder will go in this direction:

I don't think Lex should personally go toe to toe with Superman. Get a super powered villain as his lackey.

Maybe a storyline where Lex politically maneuvers the public in to turning against Superman. It would be very easy to blame the whole Metropolis thing on him. The Donner Lex is too ridiculous, get closer to Smallville Lex where he is a much more grey character than black and white. Smallville Lex is the best Lex to date.

Personally Im a little burned out on the hero being viewed (almost always extremely unfairly) as a villain. The Spiderman and Dark Knight movies ran that plot into the ground.

I wouldnt mind Lex controlling a villain from the distance, but would prefer him show his own brillance and power first and foremost. Maybe have some crazy plot twist where towards the end of the movie Lex backstabs and kills the main villain himself and becomes the final villain for superman to fight.

Im not familiar with the Smallville Lex, so I cant comment on that. The Superman: The Animated Series Lex is what I would like to see.

Basically a Lex that doesn't see himself as the villain. He's protecting the people against the alien.

Wouldn't he just be able to punch Lex in the face?

It's called heat vision right in the chest piece to tear that Krytonite out before it That said, that armor just says punch me in the face anyway. I hope film Lex will be more subtle than that, after all the main prognosticator in this film spent most of the time he was on-screen wearing armor too.

Which doesn't exist as we know it in the MOS version.
