And what does Shout have anything to do with what Universal does with their Blu-Ray releases? I mean, Universal just released THE SHADOW because they felt like it in the U.S., even though Shout had apparently been given the green light to release it themselves. Shout's titles are only for the U.S. also. The two things have nothing to do with each other.

Anyway, we'll see what happens. My order hasn't been canceled yet. Could be that they jumped the gun, or it's being moved to a later date. I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later.
The point about Shout/Scream is that Psycho II was listed on a European website (not Amazon) and was pulled and a month later Scream announced it. So there IS a connection to Scream, also both Psycho II and Jaws 2 are sequels to very popular classics so maybe Universal is happy to release the original film but pass the sequel rights to Scream. I'm probably way off but it's a possibility.

I'm curious why you question my "feeling" now rather than weeks ago when I first posted that I was unconvinced by this announcement.

And I agree, Jaws 2 will happen sooner or later, but the fact is you and another poster specifically said that this pre-order was fact as it was on Amazon and now it's been pulled/postponed/cancelled.

Most of the time when they show up as pre-orders at Amazon.de, they're coming, and -- no offense -- I will trust Amazon.de over an anonymous message board poster who has a "gut feeling" a title is going to get canceled every time. I don't mean it personally, but you could make the same "feeling" comment about any "random" catalog announcement at Amazon.de -- they happen every week with U.S. catalog releases with no rhyme or reason as to why they're coming out, with no rumors or talk about them coming as well. They simply show up. Do you mistrust every announcement that's put up there? Or have other instances when Amazon.de has had titles listed that didn't get released on a regular basis?

I still believe it's coming out at some point, because I doubt it was listed there as a mistake or showed up out of the blue. You keep mentioning PSYCHO II -- but that wasn't even a title that Amazon.de had listed on their site. So generally, I've found when they've got preorders listed on Amazon.de, there is little reason to distrust the validity of the source.

I also don't agree with you about Universal's relationship with Scream. Shout may well release the Jaws sequels in the U.S. -- it makes perfect sense for them to do so -- but that has nothing to do with what Universal does with JAWS 2 internationally in other territories. The fact that Shout was doing THE SHADOW in the U.S. didn't stop Universal from doing their own U.S. release -- so why would a possible JAWS 2 Shout release stop what Universal does with it somewhere else in the world?

I really do not understand why you're blowing this whole thing out of proportion by saying stupid things like 'do you mistrust all announcements' and 'I'll trust a listing over someone with a gut feeling'. Stop trying to make a big thing out of nothing. And why the hell should I have other instances of Amazon listing titles that then didn't get released? No, I haven't and that's completely irrelevant.

I have explained why I made a connection between this and Psycho II and that I'm most probably incorrect but yet you're trying desperately to make more out of that, almost attempting to belittle my thoughts and theories. I've never mentioned Scream possible US release stopping a release in other countries - that's simply something you've added on to try and undermine my thoughts on the situation. Yet again I'll say it - Psycho II listing cancelled, four weeks later Scream announce it. In my head, no one else's, I associate Jaws 2 with Psycho II so I came up with that theory.

Stop being childish and move on.

I do not have to explain to you anymore why I doubted the listing. There is one big fact here - the listing has been cancelled. I made a comment that I didn't think it was 100% from the start - simple as that. You've turned it into an attack on my thoughts on the situation, trying to undermine a comment I made in post 3 of this thread that has, for the moment, been proved correct.
If you make anymore sarcastic comments I will report you. There is simply no need for what you're saying, I expect better from users of this forum.

Gut feeling or not, to me it made perfect sense that Jaws 2 was announced for Blu-ray release in August, since Jaws (1975) was released to Blu-ray exactly one year prior.
I was thinking that Universal might do all Jaws movies one each year every August. Too bad Jaws 2 was cancelled as of now. I'm still hoping it will happen.

You're right - it did make perfect sense, but that still doesn't alter a gut feeling.

I have every confidence that Jaws 2 will "surface" but I just have a feeling we'll get an announcement of either its solo release or a sequel boxset.

Something in the back of my mind tells me it won't just go under the radar and appear on Amazon.de like Tootsie etc. Despite what view many have of the sequels, the various releases and boxsets of Jaws sequels have always sold very well.
Jaws is a brand as much as a film title, I can't see Universal just releasing it with a whimper in any country. It's bound to have some promotion and sales push.

It's a shame they pulled the German release... I was about to order it. Hopefully we'll see a release of all 4 (including a true 3D pt 3 and even the terrible pt 4). I'm a completist, even though those last 2 are pretty cringe-worthy!!
