Yeah they put that on everything they release, but unfortunately they don't change it when it needs to be (Batman Forever).

Just curious, have you ever seen them change the artwork?

As I said in the UK Disney Thread, when HMV had the Disney exclusives we had Cars 2 for £14.99. Now Zavvi knows people will pay more we have this at £23.99. I can't blame them, there's money to be made and it's up to people how they spend their cash. It's just a shame that in two years we've seen an increase of 60%.

Well I wont be buying this anyway. Can get it cheaper from the US and that will include 3 discs probably.

I agree. And look for a massive run of these, given the recent response to Aladdin, et al.

Same, thanks. There aren't other options to take, since the code doesn't work with other items.
I've been waiting for an opportunity to buy Byzantium, Seven Samurai, and this is that opportunity!

Aside from this, the code also works on:

Beverly Hills Cop, Byzantium, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Die Hard, Evil Dead 2, Evil Dead (2013), Fast and Furious 6 (Zavvi exclusive version), From Dusk Till Dawn, Gremlins, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid, Olympus Has Fallen, The Place Beyond the Pines, Planet of the Apes (1968), The Princess Bride, Reservoir Dogs, Seven Samurai, The Sixth Sense, Starship Troopers and Taxi Driver along with all of their 'in stock' items.

I'm in Canada. All of, if not MOST of my steelbooks (metalpaks etc) for the Pixar movies and Disney movies I got from Future Shop.

Has anything changed recently (for some reason I thought I read something about this), or is there still a good chance Future Shop will still get Disney steelbooks like this? OR, should I jump on this preorder?

Maybe the last one I recall getting from there was the Marvel Avengers set.

Maybe the No 3D is a hint lol I personally don't care for it either.

But perhaps it means an increase in the price to include it and they would rather move out as much steelbooks as they can at a lower price?
I dunno.

I do know whenever I see the 2D version blu ray at the store, the 3D combo package costs quite a bit more. It can be a huge turn off for many.

If I had to guess, I would say there is zero chance of this getting a North American release. Disney have stopped producing metal packaging releases in North America due to the lawsuit which banned the sale of Viva Metal Boxes. I doubt they will be producing Steelbooks again after basically abandoning them in favour of making their own cheaper to produce packaging.

Chris
It's Disney UK, they always short change UK collectors with sub-par content.

I wouldn't be so sure. The SteelBook packaging is usually exclusive to a particular retailer. I would think it's the retailer, not the studio, who fronts the money for their own exclusives. It drives sales, and more importantly, traffic, to their stores.

I still think the dust needs to settle from the Viva fiasco before Best Buy/Target/Walmart strike a deal with SteelBook going forward. We have actually seen it work already with Target's exclusive Django SteelBook. IMHO, Darryl B. Morticum!

Scariest part about this idea is that Wal-Mart is stepping up to the plate for both Oblivion and Man Of Steel... however, they are going to be the inferior metal pak design cases.

It was never all studios that went to Viva MetalPack, most studios stuck with the Steelbook releases (WB, Sony, Universal, etc.), whether they be wide releases or store exclusives. It was only Disney that switched to the Viva cases. That signals it was mostly a Disney issue with Steelbook and not a retailer issue.

It could return eventually but I think Disney has decided to switch to Digibook for the store exclusive packaging (as evident by the Target exclusives recently). You can always order and then just cancel if a North American release does get announced.

I don't like that the background is gray on the front, it should have been white if anything.

I don't mind the artwork so much. Yes, it probably could be better though. I can live with it.

HOWEVER! Are they seriously going with just the Monsters University school emblem on the spine?!?!

I expect the title to be added to the cover and spine one of these days, or at least on the real thing. Otherwise it looks really weird...that void between the two of them on the cover is where it belongs.
