I wasn't eating snacks all the time, but when I did eat almonds and raisins I was eating close to 6 times that. Now with the scale, I guess I can measure it out. Had a little Tupperware box I used to fill and take to work.

Tomorrow, I'll weigh the cheese....curious how little a serving may be. I got some Kirkland mozzarella in the fridge. Used to cut off a pretty good chunk.

Cut off a limb or two...

j/k. But damn, 2 stone!!! Isn't that over 20 pounds or 12kgs? Cut out fast food and sugary drinks. Also, watch your portions and exercise a lot. That is the safest means to do it.

I've lost 20+ pounds since April simply by cutting out the third daily meal. I added a couple small snacks throughout the day instead. Also, I am drinking 2 litres of water a day and no eating after 6pm. If you feel the hunger pangs after 6pm that's when you guzzle more water. Everything else is what I've always eaten in normal portion sizes, not measured diet portions. It's not bad and I got used to it quickly.

Calories in vs. calories out. Doesn't really matter to your body what time you're eating them. Usually when people stop eating after a certain time in the day and lose weight, its because they've already eaten a day's worth of calories.

Otherwise great job on your progress.

1.) Diet -- Eat healthy. Talk to a professional on the right caloric intake for your goals. A 1200 calorie diet and extreme exercise will not help you loss weight. There needs to be a balance for between what you eat and the activity level that you maintain on a daily/weekly basis.
2.) Exercise -- Do what your body can handle. Do not over do it at first. Eventually, your body will get stronger and more agile to be able to accomplish more. Additionally, your stamina will increase over time, too.
3.) Hydrate -- I think this is the most important. At a minimum, you should be drinking a gallon of water a day on non-workout days. Probably a gallon and a half on days when you exercise. I have talked to people who drink very little water and complain/brag that they do not sweat. You body needs the hydration to burn calories correctly. A dehydrated body will burn muscle before fat. This is counterproductive as to why we are exercising in the first place.
4.) Sleep -- 7-8 hours minimum will help loose weight. A tired body will burn inefficiently. Similar to a dehydrated body.

I have changed all of these aspects of my life and have seen the results first hand. In the past, I did one or two of the steps, but never ALL of them. I used to be a night owl and got 4-5 hours of sleep most nights. Now, I feel better and more energized with more sleep. Additionally, I tend to be more motivated to work-out when I have had a good night sleep.

I feel these are the basics. Those that say that they don't work for them have not really given them a chance. This will not work over night. It takes time to loose weight. We did not gain it in a short period of time, therefore, it will not come off in a short period of time.

Also, weight seems to come off in the reverse order that it was put on. Therefore, most men will see the spare tire slowly get smaller, but not totally gone. I have been working on this area for the last three months and it is still there. My abs are slowly peeking out, but this last bit is the most difficult.

There is it folks, you aren't going to sum up fitness and developing a healthy body much better than that.

Nutrition
Exertion
Hydration
Rest

Thanks and yes, what you say makes sense. I have done strict calorie counting before and found it a burden, and I was still eating in the evening. I have found my present method to be the most consistent weight loss for me. Yes, number one: there is no doubt that I am consuming less calories with the deletion of a full meal. Another interesting thing about this method is I am still losing weight whether I exercise or not.

I hope it helps. It is not a strict diet. You can tweak it to suit yourself. Also, if you occasionally cheat a little after 6PM it's not detrimental.

Yup reminds me of my 270 lb father who recently decided he would have regular 600 calorie days and have normal eating days as well, worst part is the man's been a health professional practically his entire life so he definitely knows better.

I've skipped breakfast for years. Gained weight. Was up to 108 kg. Skipping meals is really bad for your metabolism.

When I was eating three meals a day and 3 snacks, last one at 9:00. I lost 5 kg in a month. Wasn't even exercising. Just made healthier choices, no KFC or beer. And drank lots of water.

For those who are using MyFitnessPal, what do you put when you go out? Went to a Chinese dinner tonight. Had a couple shrimp, a couple pieces of sashimi, a couple pieces of pork, some congee, and some fish. I left full, but not stuffed. would 1000 calories be fine.

Actually, it does matter when you eat, and how often. Eating more frequent small meals keeps your metabolism up and also keeps your insulin levels more consistent. Meals shouldn't be skipped. Most fitness experts point to eating 5-6 meals a day, one every 2.5-3 hours.......unless you are doing intermittent fasting, but I don't fully understand that yet.

Wouldn't it be more constructive to explain to him WHY what he is doing isn't the most healthy way to lose weight instead of just saying he's wrong?

Most of those things should be found on the search function in myfitnesspal. I would say that 1000 seems a bit high.

Did a quick search; didn't find anything.

Guess it doesn't matter. Before entering my dinner I have 1179 calories left. I didn't over-eat. So guess I am good for the day.

Impossible to estimate calories. Was being a little overly cautious guess 1000....maybe 600 is more like it.

Maybe there are different databases for regions, but I have found almost EVERYTHING (even odd seafood options) via a search within the app. In some cases, I have done a Google search on the food to see if there is any other details out there.

Funny though, there's nothing wrong with me. Had a check up and bloodwork done recently and everything is great. My doctor is impressed and I am already within my healthy weight, I was about 20 pounds over.
