I like to go DLP because of the almost zero motion lag and more accurate colors and they stay that way even at the end of the projectors life compared to LCD which start to turn a green color. I also like the muted pixel structure and don't have to worry about dust blobs too.
currently I have a acer k750 laser hybrid with a claimed 100,0001 contrast "probably lower then that" lol it's a temporary projector that I plane to use as a back up plus I got for about $900. I plane to use mine twenty four seven but I want something a bit brighter with a better contrast kind of like my Samsung but my Samsung led has a rated 6 million to 1 and looks very nice so I doubt i'll get anywhere near that plus it still looks as good in bright light. if I could only just get a projector looking half as good i'd be a happy camper!

I can put my money where my mouth is. Check out my Gallery. The Cineversum Blackwing cost 18K. I don't see these projectors as a do all solution. I'm thinking of using the Optoma as a 3D / Gaming / TV projector. I will also upgrade to the new Cineversum as a strict 2D film projector.
I also own a Samsung Led TV (40"). Altho I like it for some usage I would hate it for a HT. A projector in my opinion should look like film. Not the Garash/Artificial look of a TV. This is why I would shy away from projectors designed for Business.
You may be looking for a different thing / effect than me. The Panny or Sony would maybe suit.
I really can't see the Panny doing 500000:1 Contrast when rated at 20000:1. I know when you lower brightness you get gain in contrast, however I can't see the Panny achieving that sort of number.
