That may happen if they pick the wrong cast! I really want to see Sigourney Weaver in it, if she can't be in it I won't watch....

Katee Sackhoff Fights Alongside Gina Carano in Female EXPENDABLES

Action veteran Katee Sackhoff will put her Battlestar Galactica skills to the test alongside Gina Carano in the all-female version of The Expendables. We previously posted Carano’s attachment to the Adi Shankar production and the news about Sackhoff comes as a welcome addition for sci-fi fans. We’ve yet to see a veteran action heroine added to the cast (ie Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton, etc), but the picture is building a solid young core of experienced action stars to carry what will hopefully be a successful franchise.

Variety reports that Sackhoff has signed on to star alongside Carano in the as-of-yet untitled all-female version of The Expendables. No details have yet to be released as to the nature of Carano and Sackhoff’s roles, but Shankar was equally excited about Sackhoff’s addition:

I’m down with the addition of Carano and Sackhoff to the picture, but I really hope that a female answer to The Expendables’ Schwarzenegger, Willis and Stallone is in the near future.

Sackhoff recently starred on A&E Network’s Longmire as well as a key role in the eighth season of 24. Carano and Sackhoff have a Vin Diesel franchise connection of sorts as the former will star alongside Diesel in Fast Six, while Sackhoff will be seen in the Chronicles of Riddick-sequel. She has also recently wrapped The Haunting in Georgia and Sexy Evil Genius. Sackhoff’s currently shooting Film District’s horror pic Oculus with Brenton Thwaites and Rory Cochrane.

I'm liking the two casting choices so far. One is a bona fide female action capable star with a background in MMA, while the other just looks good . Could take up the eye candy mantle for one of the team but i'm sure she'll kick butt too lol

Millennium Hires ‘Legally Blonde’ Scribes For ‘ExpendaBelles’ Spinoff


EXCLUSIVE: After grossing $563 million worldwide on The Expendables and its recently released sequel, Millennium Films has set Legally Blonde scribes Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith to write ExpendaBelles, the title of the spinoff action film that will show the feminine side of the mercenary business. The intention is to hatch a franchise that will be driven by actresses who’ve logged time in action films over the years, much the same way that The Expendables team is comprised of action film staples. Millennium will finance with Avi Lerner and Mark Gill producing, along with Heidi Jo Markel of Eclectic Pictures and Julie Kroll of Summertime Entertainment and Boaz Davidson. Trevor Short will be executive producer.

The action game hasn’t been as steady for actresses as it has been for their male counterparts, but certainly Angelina Jolie thrives and Underworld‘s Kate Beckinsale, Resident Evil‘s Milla Jovovich, Haywire‘s Gina Carano, and Kill Bill‘s Uma Thurman have done well in the butt-kicking action realm. And there is also Alien‘s Sigourney Weaver, Long Kiss Goodnight‘s Geena Davis, Elektra‘s Jennifer Garner, Crouching Tiger‘s Michelle Yeoh, Red Sonja‘s Brigitte Nielsen, and action genre matriarch Pam Grier. Who am I missing? Millennium is compiling its own list, but doesn’t expect to make offers until the writers deliver the goods. Lutz and Smith are repped by Paradigm and Jaret Entertainment.

Umm I think it is the other way around. Carano just looks good while Sackhoff is a bonafide female action star. Carano needs to learn how to act before she can become any type of a movie star. As long as they put some good women around her like Sackhoff then the film should be decent. Got Em!!

how in the world did I miss this news?!?!? I was just looking to see what Katee has coming up, and saw this "Untitled Adi Shankar Project". I look at the cast: Katee, Gina Carano, Linda Hamilton (rumored)... and find out it's basically a female Expendables. SWEET!

...except it'll be far BETTER than The Expendables movies because they aren't geriatric has-beens trying to cling to past glory
