I would think just lowering the price isn't making a "retreat". Make a price drop around Christmas time and leave it. People know what's up with a price drop-the company wants to sell their product. Usually people don't care and will buy it at the lower price. If they did it around Christmas then people would assume this and snatch them up. Like I said-lowering a price point isn't a "retreat"-it may be regrouping or whatever but every company does it.
