That really wasn't a "masturbation" scene per se, as much as it was a sexual abuse scene. Abuse perpertrated by Satan on a helpless little girl.

Do yourself a favour and don't rely on the OP's views to cheat yourself out of watching a powerful film. I don't blame anyone for voicing their opinion, but it would be unfortunate if it robbed you of experiencing something that you may find profound (you may not, but you may never know). Wathced it, nothing new to see or offer. Good Cinematography, not good enough story, besides I'm getting tired of the interconected stuff. |

The first time I saw this movie was subtitled in French and shamefully (although I thought I was good in understanding written French at least) I totally missed the Japanese girl subplot (but not the Japanese girl
![]() ![]() ![]() In any case, I had the chance to rewatch the movie and I have to say I liked it and that's why I recently got the BD earlier this year (when Paramount titles started reappearing in Métro Video in downtown Montréal.) Yes, the plot is a bit discontinuous, and probably most people will get a feeling of the movie the second time they watch it, but still, it is a fine film. Again, it's not for everyone ![]() |

I believe one of the taglines of "Babel" kind of sums up the movie's meaning... "Pain is universal... But so is hope." It's not that difficult to understand that pain and hope are the main themes of the movie. "Babel" was the last part of Alejandro González Iñárritu's trilogy of movies about pain and hope... the first two movies being "Amores Perros" and "21 Grams." I urge everyone that enjoyed "Babel" to see those, as well. CC |

This was not a crash ripoff! Alejandro González Iñárritu has been making this type of movie long before crash came out, starting with Amores Perros in 2000, followed by 21 Grams in 2003. Crash came out in 2004. And for the record, I thought Babel was a really good movie. My favorite of his, in fact. And it's much much better than the overrated Crash. And the stories are all loosely connected, if you pay attention. Stop talking about this movie as if the whole thing is about a boy masturbating while peeping on his sister. That is such a minute detail in a much larger story. You'd think you were a nun or something.
