We have to remember that XBL HAS had a leg up on Sony's online play. It's been around significantly longer and has more than ample time to improve on its shortcomings. Sony's online capabilities will improve, some great things are going to happen this year.

Its real...

Its being developed by the Europe division.

The problem with home is the problem with alot of the ideology for web 2.0.

We as in the entire world now have to rethink a few things, copyright, ownership.. those are things that are going to have to be rethought,
and reevaluated.

Ill give you a example, theoretically, if using ideas presented in the origional e3, a user displays a illegal created video of a movie the he or she aquired illegally to other users.

One user takes a picture of it and emails it to a studio.

Next thing Sony would be slaped with a lawsuit *copy write infringement* and accused of promoting piracy.

I hate to say it, but it will take some heaving and hoeing to get everyone on board.

The HAD a leg up... Sony should have launched with the interface they have now (anyone think some dude at Sony said "yeah, boss, this is the very best we can do..."?) and almost a year and half after launch it should have a system that is FAR past XBL.


BTW, I say "should" as in "I wish it did"

ummmm..........yea..... i guess i agree, the PSN should be better than xboxlive, but its not compleatly bad, its still a good network. answer your self this, would you rather still have the ps2's online service? or ps3's?

Sony need to take baby steps instead of leaping to where no man has been before. Thats the only problem. They tell you about something about 18 years before it eventually comes out. The only reason the HOME world is taking so long is because they are so ambitious.

Unfortunately, I think XBL is about as far as you need to take it. With everything else just being icing on the cake. Get the core aspect of it up, let people meddle with it and go from there.


As for the other two companies releasing new systems. Makes no difference. Nintendo will stay on the other side of the street, Microsoft can't release a new console costing less than $1000 to beat the PS3 and most of the features that would make such a system worthwhile will require great software. That means years of development. Its only worth upgrading the system if the benefits are plain to see. Most people won't buy a system just because the specifications are greater, they want to see real world performance jumps. PS3 is still producing pioneering development techniques and results as I type.

All sony has to do for now is give us access to the XMB while playing a game, thats really the only thing 360 has over the ps3 right now. and where getting video downloads this summer to, so this summer 360 owners will have nothing to brang about anymore, the ps3 will have the same features as live. in game music,freinds,chat, and the ps3's XMB. im pretty sure all thats coming with firmware 2.40 as it has been confirmed by sony themselfs.......so buy june or july we should have everything we want, and if we do get those by july i can wait for home a little wile longer.

And the most blatant difference between Sony's and Microsoft's online services is staring us right in the face. Sony (at the moment) is offering their service for free versus the paid subscription plan that XBox Live has in place. Always remember that, guys

The tech associated with the network is at least a decade old. Couple that with 360 being a last gen system (honestly, STILL offered w/o HDD, still has lowly DVD capacity... a little better chip set does not make it a whole new generation)...


Also, I love how the first post to say I am wrong is "Sony is going to come out with..."

Good job. That is the point of my post. They should push it faster (spend more money on it, get more or better employees on it, etc) because PS3 should be stomping the hell out of the 360... not competing with it.

If Sony gave us HALF of what they could with no problem, Xbox would look like a damn N64
