Another big disappointment is the picture in the middle of the OP of the guy with all the tats holding the gun that looks pretty cool, he is in the movie for about 25 seconds and says 10 words.

This belly flopped hard at the box office landing in 9th place with less than $10. It is already being held out as a bigger flop than Lone Ranger and other high profile misses from this year.

I figured this one had the odds against it with the huge competition at theaters this time of year. $225 million budget they lost out on so far.

Thanks. I wish this had strong 3D, but what is here is not terrible for 3D.

On the downside, Keanu's character was a bit dull and didn't really give him a chance to do anything interesting outside of the action scenes. The cinema i saw it in didn't have the best screen and it was a bit murky and washed out but i liked the 3D in this. I cant wait to see how much better and sharper it will look on 3D blu ray. There was lots of nice medium level depth in this, with a smattering of pop outs here and there.

I loved the pirate ship town, would have been great to have more of that. Great looking troll thing that Keanu fights in this sequence too. That and the creature chase sequence at the beginning were definite highlights. I loved all of the fx throughout.
Glad you liked it Levcore. I also enjoyed the movie despite the slower pace, though there was room for improvement in some spots. The story was easy to follow and didn't find anything confusing about it, so that's a good thing with the writing at the very least. The ending was kind of sad.
[Show spoiler]If I was Keanu's character, I would have questioned tradition in that case and revolted against the system instead of ending it for the sake of the Shogun Ruler who wanted them to kill themselves for honor. Not all rules are good.

Thumbs down on this, it won't be added to my collection. The movie did have potential though.
Yeah, the 3D could have amped it up a lot more. They played it too safe for the 3D.
In spoiler tags, What would be some of your suggestions to help improve the 47 Ronin storyline where it falls apart? Thanks.

Watched this on new years and thought it was a solid movie. My theater had half the screen off caliber but I thought 3d still looked consistent throughout. The plot was pretty ingesting and there was a decent amount of action. Other than shooting in native 3d, I can't see why the budget was so high.

Probably because that guy isn't an actor, just an actual guy who got internet famous for the creepy full-body tattoo (he's also been in a Lady Gaga video where he doesn't really do anything, just stands there).
