It used to be that all the Amazon website shared the same email/password information - but I'm having problems logging in
question - if I create a new Amazon account on the Japanese site will it cause problems on other Amazon websites - i.e, Germany, UK and the US ?? |

A few months ago I wanted to order from Amazon.jp and I was unable to login with my normal amazon credentials. I asked the Amazon chat people if I was doing something wrong and they said that I would have to create a separate account for Amazon.jp. I never did though, not sure why.

This is normal. Amazon.jp has always required a separate account.

Correct. Amazon Japan, and likewise the Chinese equivalent, are separate from the other Amazon departments, this has always been the case. You will need to open a new account to order things from them.
