If I did a complete 180 flip of my home theater build the theater would be under my neighbors living room. The way I have it situated now the theater will be under their kitchen.

I originally wanted it on the 14ft wall under the living rm but the point of building my theater (besides the opportunity to do so) was to enjoy movies and music the way I want to while not disturbing my neighbors. Well at least that's the hope lol

I considered doing a room within a room. But my lady gave me a pool table for my 40th bday. In order to accommodate the table I came up with an idea for an 8ft pocket door which would allow access to one side of the table.

Talk about putting the cart before the horse and trying to ice skate up hill.

Congratulations on the new home and your plans for a dedicated theatre. I'm sure you'll be in for a very exciting time and i can't wait to see pics of your progress.

I hear ya! This room clearly had a pool table front and center from the last owner. In fact you can still see the cue holder on the left wall near where I want to put my screen in the pics. Unfortunately, I have a little dry wall repair to do as they clearly scraped the thing in to the drywall on the stairwell ceiling/wall edge trying to get it out.

Got a price on the Elite Lunette with the AcousticPro4k. Whaaaahh... its pushing my budget limits and "wife acceptance factor" ... hard. Anyone thinking of that particular screen as an "entry level" Elite screen needs to readjust their ideas of the brand. I would happily pair it with a new 4K Sony if I could. The MSRP is getting near to Stewart and Screen Innovations price territory. With my screen size, budget, and my roughly 600 lumen 1080p projector is it right for me? I need to replace the kitchen flooring too; but unless the sample of CenterStageXD just turns me off completely I can't see myself doing it. If I do decide on the Lunette we are talking about a substantial wait while I get by with my pull-down for the interim. Still love that screen though.

Just moved the table out of what will be the theater room. I love the game but moving the table was a chore. Now of course I don't have the space, I originally thought I would have. The table so it needs to be moved again. But back to the room.

My screen will be 124"W X142"D X 70"H 16:9 I was thinking of going scope. I might just do that as the difference is 7"D and 17"H

fwiw, I have a 125" scope screen and a 120" 1.85 screen. If I had to keep just one, it would definitely be the scope screen.

If you don't mind, pls explain why do you feel that way? I was thinking if I did 16:9 then I could have the best of both worlds. If I do scope then I'd have to implement some type of masking system or just live with the blk bars if I do decide to watch 16:9 content on my scope screen.

Decisions.

The main reason is that what I love the most about watching movies in my theater is taking in a good scope movie. There is just something more immersive about watching a movie in that viewing ratio that trumps 1.85 material. It is true that I would be missing out on some quality 1.85 movies if I just had the scope screen, but the benefit for the scope movies is worth it.

Having horizontal black bars on scope material would be a far greater distraction for me than having vertical bars for 1.85 material. Also, masking 1.85 material on a scope screen is a lot easier to do than masking 2.35 material on a 1.85 screen.

I don't watch too much TV on it though, so you have to take that into consideration. Its probably 80% movies and 20% tv/sports.

I see you went with James over at Jamestown Screens? I know there is a bit of a wait at times, but were you pretty happy with everything in the end?

Yeah no issues at all other than the small wait time. My friend actually ordered one first, which I helped to put together with him. Getting all the waves out of the screen material can be a little bit tricky, but it was much easier on the 2nd go around for my screen. Can't beat it for the price.

Well before you decide scope or 16:9, I'd ask how you are going to implement things projector side? I'm just going to use the zoom method initially. Someday I want to get my hands on an anamorphic lens. Thing is I have a motorized zoom, so its not that hard to switch formats. If I had a manual lens where I needed to reach up, or get a step stool, it would be all bets off. That isn't happening.

I agree with you. Adjusting things manually gets old real quick. I have a motorized lens as well and will be using zoom. No need for a lens unless you really want one. Or if the projector you decide to go with in the future requires one.

Good point. I would probably keep the 1.85 screen if I didnt have the auto switching feature of the AE4000 or an A-lens.
