Try thirteen (eleven, if you stop after Laura's killer's final fate is sealed, rather than stopping at the point he's/she's simply revealed to the audience).

There's only a handful of truly dull episodes. Once the Windom Earle story gets into full effect, it feels back on track. It's just a shame they didn't do it sooner, as the whole build of the chess game gets lost in the shuffle without any real resolution. Had they begun that within the same episode that closes out Laura's story, the momentum could've been kept up.

Ah, I see that's why I remember only 5 or 6 really dull episodes, because it does feel back on track once the Windom Earle story gets into full effect.

My girlfriend and I are currently watching the show together for the first time. We sat through four episodes earlier today, rounding off Season One. I'm already dying to see the rest after all those cliffhangers!

The show is on Netflix streaming if anybody wants to see it for the first time or re-watch it.

That's how I'm seeing it. I think I'm about six episodes into Season 2 at the moment and thoroughly enjoying it.

Everybody seems to hate this scene with a passion (even the top-rated video comments mock it), but I love it:

Just you and I - Twin Peaks (reupload) - YouTube
How could anyone hate that scene? James is such a dreamboat?

My wife and I finished rewatching Twin Peaks a couple of months ago. It was her third time, I think, and probably about the tenth or eleventh time I have watched it. I still find new things to be entertained by. If you haven't seen it, make sure you watch Fire Walk With Me after finishing the show.

I wholeheartedly agree with both of you; that scene is excellent. It's one of the highlights of re-watching Twin Peaks for me, which I do at least once a year. And appending the re-watch with FWWM is absolutely essential.

There were recent rumors here about making an additional season.
Any similar rumors overseas?
I myself can't really imagine how it would play out but I wouldn't mind finding out.
Also makes you wonder what original characters would return.

Those rumors were squashed. I never get my hopes up when it comes to more Twin Peaks.

Exactly. Mark Frost killed the rumors pretty quickly. Honestly, as much as I love Twin Peaks, I don't know that I would want them to do another season.

Twin peaks is of it's time. A piece of tv history never forgotten. Would not want a follow up.

I also love FWWM, especially the angel scene and the bar scene, (questions in a world of blue)

Hey, hey, hey... I see its been just over a year since anyone has posted in this thread on Twin Peaks.

Well, count me in! I just finished watching the entire series via Apple TV and was slowly blown away with each passing episode. That last episode "Beyond Life and Death" was so disturbing, it wasn't funny. It truly resembled a nightmare at times. I could only imagine David Lynch extracted those scenes directly from his own nightmares.

I'm starting to experience Twin Peaks withdrawal now suddenly cause I only wanted more. I can see how this tv show is addictive and life-changing to some people though. The humor and campy comedy and all sorts of characters, young and old, only heightens the terror and horror that is in this show. The whole concept of the "black lodge" (and the white lodge) is truly terrifying and almost convincing that something like this really exists on this planet (there are certain places that are called "dead zones" or places where heightened paranormal energies exist). I still cannot believe a major network aired this tv show. How could this ever happen again today?

Here's hoping people re-fire up this thread again. Chime in with your Twin Peaks love (or hate!).

Twin Peaks is the godfather of modern TV drama, think of television before it, X-Files, Buffy, Soprano's and more all owe it a debt. TV was never cinematic till Peaks came along, no disrespect to series before but they looked like they were TV fare and nothing more.

Lynch and Frost changed the face of television over night, they showed that the small screen could compete with big screen and when we consider the situation now where TV shows regularly show up cinema, the legacy of this program was far reaching.

While The Wire has now taken it over as my favourite TV program of all time, Twin Peaks still remains a show I go back to, it's like revisiting an old friend. I have the Gold Box but I can't wait for the exhaustive Blu ray set when it arrives at some point this year.

Yes as soon as the cat is out of the bag and we know who killed Laura Palmer the show takes a drop and some episodes are just plain odd but Lynch signs off on a conclusion rarely matched, yes it leaves many questions unanswered but it also is one of the most disturbing and visually brave ends to any program ever.
