How can a band that have been together for so long but haven't recorded one single song can be better than the band who wrote, recorded and performed AFD, Lies and both UYIs?

If you love Chinese Democracy, two of the guitarists who performed in that album are long gone as well. So, what's to love about this "perfect band"? Other than covering what other people wrote note-by-note? You tell me, because I sincerely find nothing, really.

I guess you saw Guns N' Roses back in the day? What shows did you attend?

[Show spoiler]original

surprised ? they were at their peak and skid row (the original) were supporting ... just left the army, free, young and drunk - what a show and experince it was.

sigh. i'm such a old man.

Saw them open up for Iron Maiden back in 1988. I wonder if the blu will have 3 hours of unskippable crowd shots before the music starts.

Saw guns on the guns n metallica tour back in 1992 and then saw them recently in 2011. It was an ok show but nothing compared to the original. Plus, axl just dont push his vocals like he used to. He simply doesnt have that raw power behind his voice anymore and i know hes capable of doing it still. Maybe he's just playing it safe so he doesnt blow out his vocal chords. Some songs he sang with power, others his voice sounded quite soft. Id give anything to see the original one more time but i dont think its ever going to happen.

I actually like the new(er) GNR album. I like the old stuff too. I am interested in seeing this concert on film. Nothing is a day one buy for me anymore, but one day, hopefully I will get to watch it.

I saw the group in 1991 at Wembley in London and also 1992. Fantastic teen memories.

Today this covers band is a joke.

Bumblefoot fan signing in! Saw this lineup live twice, the second time in 2012 they even started 15 minutes early (unseen for GnR). Both instances they played for 3 hours, amazing concerts and Axl sounded great live. Part of me wishes this was a festival setting and not the Vegas residency, but can't wait to rock this in 3D!

Dont understand why some people like one jerk over the other. They ruined their band equally. One with drugs and lost inspiration, the other with an ego the size of Texas.

They both lost out but the new band has some very important musicians in it. One of them was worshiped by Nirvana and every other hair metal killing band.

I've had the opportunity to meet Axl a couple times and he's been nothing but kind and not the irrational mean-spirited psycho he's often painted as (although I'm sure he was in the past).

And to stay on topic, this blu-ray rocks!

I finally picked this up and it is fantastic. The only complaint I might have is that Axl's voice isn't as high into the mix as it is at a GNR concert. He overpowers everything during a live show.

Watched this nearly 3 hour concert over a few days. The native 3-D favors mostly strong depth with backgrounds sinking deep into the screen and musicians/sets/the crowd sitting at or in front of the screen. Nice volume and separation on this one. Quite a few pop-outs with musicians point their guitars at the camera, throwing guitar picks at you or confetti falling out of the screen.

Most of the current band has been together for longer than the so called original members were in it. Many of the guys have been in the band for 15ish years. They've also been recording together for years. They aren't releasing much on itunes or in stores, but so what? There is NO money to be made recording new material and releasing it. If they do release it all the naysayers who don't make music or release it themselves just complain. Besides that, all the money is in touring, which these guys do all the time. It makes far more sense for them to keep going out there and doing hundreds of shows a year, make big money, and proving to the world that they are an awesome band.

With regard to your guitarist comments. Have you ever even seen them perform live? They don't play note for note. The entire band are virtuosos who JAM and solo like crazy and make the songs their own for the most part. No show is ever exactly the same because they do so much stuff on the fly and bust out so many cover songs from other bands because they just feel like jamming out to something new that night.

Wait a second, "so-called"? I mean, if it wasn't for these "so-called" original members, you wouldn't have AFD, Lies or both UYIs to enjoy. Axl wouldn't have any music to cover with his new band. Gotta remember, Axl didn't write all the songs.

Yes, they have been longer than original Guns so...? It only gets worse for you. If they have been together for so long, even more than old Gn'R, and they're completely better in any shape or form than old Gn'R, my question is... where are those incredibly god almighty albums these guys can put out which would overshadow any memories that old Gn'R ever existed.

You know, a musician is not a musician if he's not creating his own music. Unless they identify themselves as a session musicians. I mean, what's the point of being a legendary status band if all you're going to do is play Slash's solos or Izzy's riffs night after night? It's very confusing.

It's also confusing that you defend the lack of new material, I think people want new material. You have no idea how many people want new material. I do support this band in a way that they deserve their chance to shine.

You state that there's no money to be made out of recordings. My question is: And...? Are you calling this band a cash-grabbing Vegas act?

The problem is, they tour music they didn't write, they even play almost the same setlist every night for years with a frontman that sounds terrible. At least these last few years. Did you miss the Axl Rose disaster videos?

Yes, I saw them in 2010 and 2012. They cannot make songs they didn't write their own. It's comical. I'm not knocking them off. Ashba is the only one who is a terrible guitarist but Bumblefoot and Fortus are both great.

You said that this band is better than the old band. I asked a simple question which you're not able to answer. The facts are not on your side. If you think they're better just because they play the songs better to you, then I gotta remind you who wrote those songs.

Anyone can cover Guns N' Roses songs, not many can write and record that kind of music.

Not completely true.

I'm not arguing that the current band is better than the original line-up. Just that, in 2014, I doubt the original line-up would be any better.
