This happens every year. There's always several new shows that don't get picked up for another season. It doesn't seem like there's a larger amount of new shows being cancelled in 2014 versus previous years to me. Perhaps it's just that several you were watching/planning to watch didn't get renewed, so it feels more exaggerated to you.

Yeah, you're probably right. It does happen every year but it's the first time i think I've really felt so annoyed about it. They all seemed to get cancelled at once. At least I've still got Game of Thrones and Arrow which seem safe for now!

Generally speaking, most of the shows that get cancelled get cancelled in May. That's when the broadcast network season ends, and the networks decide what shows are coming back, which shows aren't, and what new shows they're starting next season.
