Cost. The fact that you can use a large variety of bluetooth headsets should be able to allow individuals to communicate. I wouldn't be surprised if an official headset is on the way, but I wouldn't expect it to hit the streets until Socom.

Sony doesn't need to give it away for free though. There's not an established way for them to do this in a reasonable time frame. If you remember the free blu-ray movies took several weeks to get to the people that received them. I'll just stick to using the PS Eye or my bluetooth headset for the time being.

I have the PS Eye and I find it very hard to use for online play, do you have any tricks to make it easier to use. I guess your right there, but how does MS do it with the 360?

Well MS just uses a normal wired headset that plugs into the bottem of the controller. I'd say they did this to save costs over a wireless headset.

I vote no for the same reason ezcobar mentioned - cost. I don't understand how so many people keep complaining about the price of the PS3 but seem to want it to be packed with extra items that would jack up the price but not everyone needs. A high-def cable is the more often requested freebie.

Personally, I'd rather Sony gave us the minimum we need in the box and let us have a choice on the extras. Not everyone plays online so why jack up the price for everybody for a headset especially when its likely not everyone would want the same type of headset anyway if they needed one. It's nice that some people can use the Jabra one that came with Warhawk while others can use the MGS4 one while still others can use something else. Choice is a good thing. Same thing with cables - not everyone will hook up their PS3 with component OR HDMI OR composite, so again, why jack up the cost for everyone by including an HDMI or component cable just to satisfy the percentage of people that would use it.

Two reasons. I will usually spend more for a better then average headset. I have expensive headphones for my stereo, a very good quality headset/mic setup for PC gaming, and a fairly expensive blu-tooth setup. I would rather not have either a cheap included set or a cost inducing nice one.

Second reason, I don't want every Tom and Dick to be able to talk during online games. I hope in my heart of hearts that if you are going to spend the money for a headset that maybe you will have the sense to use it properly(I know I am wrong, but hey a guy can dream).

How about we start small and see if we can get them to pack in some video cables that are capable of sending a high def picture. Keep the composite cables in there, but at least put in a set of component if not a HDMI.

Maybe in some super special bundle pack should they include a headset. I can just use the bluetooth I have now, or the USB one I have from Socom.

A free wired headset is peanuts compared to no wireless internet and no bluray. Of course MS is gonna try to compensate by giving away a free $10 piece of plastic.
