I know of the retailer, as I dated a girl once who brought me back stuff from there. Being one of the cheapest prices for the set and being in-stock, it was worth taking a shot. Thanks again for posting the link! I really appreciate it!

I'm surprised to find a Debbie Does Dallas trailer as an easter egg on the second disc. Looks like Robert Kerman's porn career is still alive and kicking.

One of the other easter eggs was shot here at my beloved pacific cinematheque in Vancouver! I go there all the time!
I never realized what pussies we Vancouver-ites could be :/

I watched this movie last night and spent the rest of that night and a fair chunk of today going through all the bonus features save for the 2 commentaries, which I will have to find the time to listen to. People aren't crazy in saying this is a good movie, it was surprisingly well made given what you are expecting. It actually feels like a normal movie in terms of the structure and the New York stuff, but mixed in with exploitation. Much of it is well handled dramatically though and only in the more shocking scenes does it feel exploitative, although one can argue the tribes themselves are being exploited since they are not accurately portrayed. There are some weaknesses in the execution of the movie, such as the documentary crew not being given enough development and you hate them not too long after being introduced to them. But the movie undoubtedly has a message, and that enhances the quality of the film. It's above pure pulp trash, and it's a great horror film, but masterpiece seems like a stretch to me right now after my first viewing. The movie certainly is disturbing in places just simply because of the graphic lengths the film goes with its violence, and I was impressed by the very convincing special effects and raw realism that Deodato achieved. But I would say I was more shocked than anything. It's unbelievable that this movie exists as it is, that all of this was actually filmed! The score, as has been mentioned by many, is truly haunting and befitting of the material.

Overall, what a movie. I feel accomplished to have finally crossed it off my bucket list. And what a package Grindhouse has put together here. There's over 5 1/2 hours of interviews and other featurettes hidden in easter eggs, and then there's 2 commentaries. The picture quality is strong and the audio is even better. The set is truly beautiful and I'm proud to have it on my shelf. No doubt this is the most important release that Grindhouse will ever put out on Blu-ray, but I am still eagerly anticipating every one of their future efforts, especially Pieces. If you're a horror fan, and can handle hardcore violence, this Blu-ray is a must for your collection. Buy with confidence and support this company!

Very nice summation of Cannibal Holocaust and of the blu ray. You can really see the love and care that Grindhouse put into every aspect of this release. Great transfer. Great packaging. Great special features. Great bonus including the soundtrack. I agree completely that horror fans need to support this. I give Grindhouse release of Cannibal Holocaust my highest recommendation.

It fills me with much joy to see this being the #1 selling horror blu ray pretty much everywhere
I guess when you mix the love and care that Grindhouse puts into their releases with notoriety of the films subject matter it can really go along way!
This is hands down in my top 3 blu ray releases of the year so far

Do Diabolik notify you via e-mail when they've dispatched a item? I ordered this on the 30th but I've heard nothing.

Not sure if you pay by credit card directly. If you pay via Paypal, generally no in my experience - I've never received a dispatch email - but I have heard from someone who has. If you payed the latter way and received a receipt from Paypal you should be okay.

Thanks very much! I paid via Paypal and received a receipt so here's hoping everything's fine. I was just a bit worried that my order had been overlooked, what with the site being glitchy as of late and talk of the Blu-ray going out of stock on some sites.

I probably won't have my copy till sometime next week, but I'm really looking forward to revisiting the film. I saw it my one and only time about 8 -9 years ago now and I've considered it a masterpiece, though obviously I find it hard to rewatch.

But this new release really got me in the mood to check it out again and see if I still think very highly of it.

Hopefully it gets there soon. I live in the U.S., a few states away from them, but I've never had any problem with an order myself. Based on how quickly my orders arrive, I'd say they nearly always ship the next day under normal circumstances. They do seem to have had a higher than average volume of both orders and website traffic lately though.

Can somebody please help? I am having a hard time and putting this off because I can't decide which version to watch. I feel like I should watch the uncut version to get the full experience, but I don't want to end up hating the movie for the real animal deaths. Will I really be missing out on too much? Give opinions and/or Spoil the animal deaths for me please...

If you like animals, especially little cute furry ones, I highly recommend you watch the cut version. The animal parts really have nothing to do with the story, I watched the cut version yesterday and didn't miss anything (even though the animal parts stick in your brain). I watched the full movie years ago and remember the cut parts but had no interest in watching them again. However, to get the FULL version, of course you would need to watch the uncut version. It just depends on if it's something you really, really want to see. Don't worry, the human slaughter is still intact!

Thanks! It's definitely not something I "want" to see. I was just worried about missing anything else important in the cut version. I can deal with fake slaughter, though.

What you can also do is watch the interview with Robert Kerman on the second disc, he talks about the animals and his thoughts. Check online also, there is a listing of what happens to the animals.

I just read some descriptions online...I'm not sure if I can handle some of them. It was painful enough to watch the chicken scene in Pink Flamingos (I would have skipped if it I knew about it). I might end up watching the cut version.
