black bars annoyed me a lot when I had a fullscreen TV, after buying widescreen half the movies uses the full widescreen without the black bars so it wasn't so bad anymore. but at 32", the picture was a bit small at times so after upgrading to 40", everything looks just right even with the black bars I believe there's LCDs out there that actually has wider widescreen viewing but then that would mean black bars on the left and right on movies that aren't full widescreen.

Correct after i bought my LCD screen which is XBR Bravia i enjoy BD viewing even for some black bars on 2.35.1 aspect ratio.just for Some friends who is asking about Black bars check you LCD TV widemode is set to FULL.
