Just to clarify before I get this, these are the same new transfers from Shout’s set?

Same masters, though Paramount's set offers the films open matte. Others are reporting audio differences, that the mono/2.0 options have been dropped.

Here's a compilation I put together of a new fan edit I created of part 7. Wait until you see the revised sleeping bag death scene!

Just as a head's up, the Australian release includes the Theatrical cut of the original and the 2009 remake.

Unfortunately it isn't. It's just the 2010 Warner blu-ray and not the new 4K remaster.

For the new red box set edition, even though they say "theatrical version" for the original, it is actually the uncut version. I own the set and have watched them. Also, they are the same transfers as Shout.

Does the first film's code from the set redeem the Uncut or the theatrical on Vudu?
I know the one from the steelbook of the first film from last year redeemed the theatrical.

Since the blu actually sports the uncut, I'll see if Vudu allows a theatrical redemption (despite the code sheet listing the former).

Only the new recent steelbook has those.

I'd go for it if I needed the codes. I have the Paramount 8 set, the Scream Factory set and have the digital films on Vudu from the code that came with my complete collection 2013 set (still worked 5 years later)... so unless I'm missing something this one is a hard pass.

Curse my bargain brain, they got me again! At the reduced price, I figure this--final?--plunge into Camp Crystal Lake is worth it for the first two re-masters alone, which I prefer open matte via Paramount for reasons not at all rooted in cinematic purism.

I was surprised to see lossy mono listed in menus posted at Cultsploitation for Parts 2 through 4, despite being dropped from the original (oversight, crowded out by additional extras or something)?

Mayhap there's additional value in the digital codes, to boot? Kill it,
[Show spoiler]Mommy!
...and I think that must mean my wallet.

Just got my copy in today. Has anyone had their 7/8 disc scratched by the case? I didn't see any scratches on my disc, but the disc holder seems overly tight and scratchy.

No scratches in my set, miraculously, just a few smudges; the only holder that wasn't tight as a drum was the inside left of the case (for the original film). I guess if the blu-ray hubs aren't stressed too much--which is a question here--the case actually seems to offer pretty good protection, keeping the edges elevated, preventing floaters, etc.

I did find the Paramount encoding on the remastered films to be noticeably better than the Shout release. Again, like was said before, it's not a day and night difference, but it's still a cleaner encoding nonetheless.

Parts 1, 2 and 4 have slightly more picture due to being in 1.78:1 instead of 1.85:1. Part 3, like the review said, is slightly zoomed in.

I also notice that the mono audio from part 4 is just a downmix from the 5.1 and not the true mono mix. So only parts 2 and 3 have the true mono mix. Speaking of it, the mono mix from parts 2 and 3 sound better on the Shout release. The bass seem more aggressive.

For someone that has only seen Part 1 and 4 of this series more than 3 decades ago on VHS, and thought they weren't memorable but satisfied a certain itch in terms of the slasher flick with some gratuitous skin show, would people recommend this set? I'm not expecting cinematic manna, but I at least hope I don't get bored.

I don't think for me it's worth spending big money on the SF set, but 50 bucks ain't bad if the films are an easy watch, like the Universal Monster collections.
