Owning multiple copies of the same movie is a total waste of money, even if you love the show. Its only acceptable when a new cut or a new copy with more special features comes out. If you buy the movie for the cover art, that's a total waste. Why not just look at pictures of it on the internet?

(My thread, which I was trying to ask a simple question with, got deleted by some people who got butthurt by the title).

Same here. Also the standard BD editions and SB's of TDK and BB. I'm seriously considering getting the standard BD of TDKR as well. I want everyone to know how much I love this series!!!!

A lot.

I don't go out of my way to buy several copies of a movie though. I don't need three copies of The Dark Knight Rises. Heck, I don't even want one.

Except for a few certain movies I would try to buy any version of, just to have them. That's only for my absolute favorite movies, though. But if there were 6 ways to own Caligula on Blu-Ray, for instance, I'd damn well 6 down.

Nothing like invading another topic to discuss what your thread got shut down for. That's going to go over well with the moderators. Anyways.

First of all, some people are extremely fortunate and have much to be grateful for.

Secondly, why do you care in the first place either way?

Thirdly, who are you to say what's a waste?

Fourth, "acceptable." Really? That's the word you're going with.

Fifth, it's great you feel that away. Has it been my friend Tim Green whose been pointing a gun at you and forcing you to buy three copies of each movie whenever you want one? He does do that, but since I know you don't like it, I'll give him a call and he'll stop. How does that sound?
Ehh, honestly if the thread title was the true thing causing all the controversy, I think it could've been changed to something less divisive instead outright deleted. That's just my opinion on the matter anyway.

Actually yes it has been! Could you please give him a call for me?

I tend to agree, however, I have a few duplicate DVD's, beacuse when I get the Blu-ray of a movie I have on DVD, it almost always has a DVD copy. I do have quite a few VHS, DVD and now BD duplicates.

I once used the same fork to eat my salad and my main course.

Okay everyone, we know some people are cool and normal because they only buy 1 copy of each blu ray. But clearly this thread is for the people that buy multiples, for whatever reason, so let them discuss it.

Let's see...not counting dupes I bought so I could have copies in two locations I double-dipped on...

Dirty Harry digi and DH/Magnum Force two-pack
Goodfellas digi and Goodfellas standard
Batman (89) digi and Tim Burton Collection
Psycho, North by Northwest dig and Hitchcock Collection
Se7en digi and Se7en/Copycat/Taking Lives three-pack
Citizen Kane UCE and Citizen Kane digi
Casablanca UCE and Casablanca 70th UCE
The French Connection and The French Connection Filmmaker Signature edition
Fargo and the Coen Bros set
Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles and The Mel Brooks Collection

And while I already have two copies of The Maltese Falcon I can't wait to grab the UK steelbook next month.

BTTF (my favorite movies) - UK Trilogy tin, UK augmented reality version, Spanish Steelbook of the first movie

Fast Five - US, UK, DE 1st and 2nd release, FR steelbooks and AU Steelcase - This was a great movie with lots of good editions

I have a couple others only because I have yet to trade/sell the "lesser" version after getting the Steelbook or other better edition.

(My thread, which I was trying to ask a simple question with, got deleted by some people who got butthurt by the title).
I started this thread because i enjoy collecting blurays, even occasionally, more than one release of a movie and im interested in what the other members of this website collect as well, if you want to contribute to this or any other thread, great, excellent, the more the merrier. However, you, or anyone for that matter, are in no way, shape, or form, in any position to tell anyone what is acceptable to spend their money on. Im not going to spend anymore of my time trying to defend what i get enjoyment doing, i get enough of that from people i know with much less understanding of collecting movies. Live and let live man!

The Hurt Locker - BB Exclusive G2 Sized Steelbook + South Korean Steelbook
Inception - FYE Steelbook + UK Limited Edition Metal Case
JAWS - BB Exclusive Digibook + UK Steelbook
WALL-E - BB Exclusive Steelbook + Original 3 Disc Release

Wow, have to say I'm suprised it's so many after checking...

In the case of "A Clockwork Orange" the Digibook included the Documentary "Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures" which was a must have... In the case of Casablanca it was a New Transfer and a Great Price($25)... In the Case of "Drive", the Disc with the Steel was Region Locked... In the case of Jaws & E.T. I just loved both the Digi's & Steels so much I couldn't choose... In the case of "Inception", I put my Steelbook inside the Metal Case and sold the other copy... In the case of "The Hurt Locker" I loved both different artworks.

In all other cases, it was just a matter of the Steelbook coming out later and me falling in love with it.
