Did a switch of tv stands this past weekend from the bedroom to the living room, needed some ventilation space for the Onkyo. The bedroom stand has an adjustable center shelf which gives the receiver about 4" of space vs the 1" from the other stand. Worked out as now I can use banana plugs for the speaker terminals with the extra room in the back of the stand. Sold the MiniDisc unit as I hadn't used it in forever. Need to pick up some cable loom from Home Depot/Lowes.........

Changed a few things, sold off the PS3, replaced it with a Sony BDP-S6200. Sold the Onkyo upfiring speakers, went the ceiling/overhead route, found a mint set of Energy Take 5.1 classic speakers...... what a difference!!!

nice find on the Energy Classics. the room looks great and I'm sure the sound not only matches it, but surpasses it! having that sound literally above you, to me, adds so much to the illusion of actual height. with the surround layers in harmony it's a beautiful thing. stop by my thread and check out how I mounted my ceiling heights. I'm 7.1.4 and so proud of it and of how it sounds. I'm sure you know the feeling too!

Went and ordered the Samsung 4K UHD player, seeing how more Atmos titles are coming on UHD than HD, and the 4K tv prices are coming down......it's time for me to get ready to make the jump....

Cleaned up the wiring behind the front mains and sub with wiremold raceway tracks, much cleaner now. I think I'm at a point where I am actually done with my home theater.

Found a great deal on a pair of Energy Connoisseur C-7's, these sound absolutely amazing. Moved the C-2's to the bedroom.

Hey there MobileES, that a great apt. set up you have there . You must have some very patient neighbor's living next door, above you, or below. I know you are loving the Energy Classic's. Job well done .

Thanks, I am very happy with where its at right now. All the Energy speakers took some time to track down, were well worth it though. Yes, haven't heard a peep from any of the neighbors in quite some time. The Classic's are great as overheads, they sound awesome. Thank you for the feedback!

see, I think that the myth that one must have a HT or let's just say audio system blasting super loudly to enjoy it is just that, a myth. also, I am willing to bet that it's not a somewhat loud volume that people complain about, it's most likely the subwoofer settings/levels in relation to that loud master volume level that folks roll that have the neighbor's up in arms.

reminds me how some folks believe you can't enjoy a movie unless it's at reference level volume. I'm here to tell you, that can be pretty damn loud depending on the source. in all my years, I have only had one complaint, and that was because I didn't have my sub dialed in properly. personally, I don't like when the audio is too loud, yes, there should be impact moments and quiet moments, but in general, for me, I don't need it blasting. sometimes in the movie theaters, the audio is painfully loud. I've been to a couple of peoples homes who have HT and they too were blasting the hell out of it looking at me yelling, man, don't that sound good?!?

I also think many of us feel if the fillings in our teeth aren't rattling, we don't have enough low end. that is always going to get that knock at the door from the neighbors or the PoPo; not a good thing!

don't get me wrong, everybody has to be happy with what they see and hear, what I'm saying is, I think most of us could actually enjoy movie watching without it being as loud as we think it should be and it can still have plenty of impact and a very wide dynamic range too.

also, as long as they (and you) are not a'holes, it's probably a good idea to invite the neighbors over once in a while for a movie night. see, that right there will kill 99% of your problems. of course you need to know your neighbors before doing that.

hey Dwayne, how you been buddy? I see you posting all over this joint!

MobileES, hope your doing well too buddy. glad to know your ATMOS/DTS:X experiences are still going strong!

Hey there solarrdadd, I'm doing well, thank you . I completely agree with your comment's about playing anything at reference volume . My older ear's are not able to handle volume level's that loud, and personally I think it take's away from the tonal quality of the speaker's. Yes it's not overall volume people complain about, it's the subwoofer's that get's the neighbor's/cop's all bent out of shape. The vibrating of wall's is not the way sub's are meant to be heard. I used to be that way when I first got involved in this hobby, but thank's to this website and expert member's such as yourself (take a bow), I have learned that proper calibration on the audio pieces are very important. What makes a decent/quality speaker sound great is it's ability to sound tonally perfect at a moderate volume level with sub's that cover the floor equally and do not sound directional . Yes, since my 35yr divorce is almost final, I have been getting more involved in this website . I'm loving being able to do what I want and whenever I want . There is not a day that goes by that member's such as Waboman, Factor, DangeRuss, just to name a few that make me laugh, with their constant bickering and joke's . Most of all, it's the great thread's and post that constantly keep's me up to date on what's new with this hobby, along with the great advice that member's such as yourself gives other's with the issue's they are having with their Audio/Video set up's .

Found a sweet deal on a pair of Energy Veritas 6.3 towers, could not pass this up. The sound quality is just amazing. Rosenut finish is beautiful, now I HAVE to collect the matching speakers (center, surrounds).
