Of course, it doesn't have problems playing 3D with Dolby TrueHD.
I was planning on using my Region A PS4 for any discs locked to region A (My Blu ray player is Region B) but I gave up when it wants to always connect to the internet prior to playing a disc. I'd rather just purchase a dedicated Blu Ray player.

From what I gather the Ps3 is a whole lot better with playing Blu rays.

Definitely.
The PlayStation 3 with the official remote is a breeze to use.

I'm having a weird problem with PS3 audio lately, no sound in games and movies but PS3 menu has sound.

Under HDMI out, I had Dolby 5.1 and DTS selected (which used to work just fine, now nothing).

In order to get sound in games and movies, I had to do HDMI Auto which just gives you only PCM 2.0 channel.

Not sure what happened, I have an LG TV running optical out to an LG soundbar and there were no issues previously.

Of course, there are always updates for TVs, soundbars, and consoles so I have no idea what went wrong specifically.

I'm no sound expert, but setting the PS3 to PCM only sounds like a bad idea....

UPDATE: Did the 'hold the power button till two beeps' thing to reset PS3 A/V settings.

After setup, everything worked. Surround sound is back.
