Would it be possible to let us know which of these are auto-conversions, and hence will be awful as to 3d?

I am not sure who would want to watch auto-conversions whether they are english friendly or not, if your purpose is to watch a good 3d movie.

But I like good 3d movies even if they are not english friendly.

I agree 100%.

You should not include any German 3D releases on the list unless you know if they are native or not. For this list to be properly useful, every German autoconversion on the list really must be labelled as such, and there are an awful lot of them on there right now.

German autoconversions aren't "real" 3D and anyone importing them expecting anything approaching real 3D is going to be sorely disappointed. They are as close to worthless as you can get - that's why I keep them separate in my Region B list. There are also so many of them that you could easily just list them on a separate post, as I have done.

And the French release of Space Chimps 2 is another one you can add to your list - that has an English track on the 2D disc (with forced French subtitles I think) but only a French dub on the 3D disc.

Went through the list and labeled the obvious ones. Will go through it again at a later point and try to find some of the other ones, anyone can feel free to point out some of the others that need to be labeled in the meantime.

I would add Only God Forgives to the list as though the English-speaking actors do speak in English (Ryan Gosling only has 17 lines in the whole film) the Thai actors speak in Thai and there are no English subtitles for any of this dialogue.

Added. Also included Night Fare since it's under a similar circumstance where the foreign parts won't have any subtitles and enough of it is in French to be annoying (or entirely dubbed in German if going with that track).

Finished adding the covers.

I ended up removing Minuscule since there's an Australian release which no doubt has English and I read that there's essentially no speaking in the film anyway. Once I get confirmation that the Brazilian release of Son of Bigfoot does indeed have an English track on the 3D, I'll look forward to making this list even shorter.

Also noticed the thread got sticky'd, my first!

Default Congratulations!

Thank you for noting the auto-conversions. I look forward to seeing this list grow as to english friendly knowledge; it will save everyone a lot of time.

But I do dislike how many there are that are not english friendly from a selfish point of view! HaHa.

And congratulations on the sticky. You deserved it.

Thanks. Already in the list though under the title "He is Dragon" as it's listed on this site. I did find another title called "Fürst der Finsternis", kind of neat looking, an auto-conversion though.

Since starting this list, I've actually imported a couple titles, ripped them and made my own discs with Google translated subtitles, plenty of syntax errors but it's enough to figure out what's going on. I was actually disappointed in the 3D for the Russian film Attraction, but I just finished the film Survival Game from Russia as well and that one has some really great 3D, huge amount of layering, I don't think anyone would be disappointed with the 3D in that one, rivals the best of US conversions. Weird movie though.

Default Thank you/Confirmation

Thank you very much for this list.

I had worked on a similar list in compiling what I considered to be 3d blu rays worth owning for their 3d qualities and became overwhelmed by the sheer number from Germany. After some research I discovered most were auto conversions and not worth the time or money to watch for 3d purposes(some are very good movies though, by the way). Many on your list that are not listed as auto conversions are indeed auto conversions.

Bottom line is looking at your list there appear to not be more than 10-15 quality 3d movies(that are not english friendly) but for 3d purposes are worth owning such as spacewalker, attraction, survival game.

My final conclusion was that I believe we have pretty much got all the gold out of the mine. I hit a rare gem once in a while but the days of finding 10 or more great 3ds from other countries appear to be over. Hell even China has just about stopped with making 3d blu rays. They were pumping them out for a while.

That was the bad news. The good news is that I never dreamed there would be over 650 quality 3d blu rays out there. That is a lot of damn 3d!!! And for that reason alone 3d will never die.

There's a Hong Kong disc of Tai Chi Zero (IVL634277) that has English subs. I don't have it, but it's listed at several vendors and I've not known a Hong Kong disc not to.

Thanks, it's listed as Tai Chi 0 on this site so Tai Chi Zero didn't pop up anywhere other than Germany when it came to a 3D release.

You can remove Pororo: The Racing Adventure, as that has English audio despite it not being listed on the back.

Can anyone confirm whether this does have an English audio track as listed on this site?

The Amazon page only lists two French tracks whereas the 2D edition has English listed on the Amazon page. Hopefully it's just a mix-up on Amazon's end and not here.

The film looks quite cute and something I'd import but I'm hoping it doesn't fall under the "not English friendly" category first.

Thanks. Not really surprised, French releases aren't the best when it comes to including multi-national soundtracks or subtitles. They certainly like to limit their market appeal.

Hopefully someone like Shout Factory is able to license it domestically since they released the similarly themed A Monster in Paris in 3D.

Anaglyph 3D will work on any 2D capable color TV, and can be recorded on any 2D color media capable format.
The 3D quality will never be as effective as Full HD 1080P Blu-ray 3D using active or passive 3D components, but anaglyph was an effective way to televise 3D broadcasts in the early days for consumers with color tv's and is still used today for those who want to experience 3D on their 2D computer monitors.
