They will probably pre-order through their website and then you can designate which store you want to pick it up at. That seems like the most logical way to handle it.

That stinks. I'm relieved I don't have any pre-orders at this time through any walk in stores. The stores could send it out to be nice, but they want people back into their stores, so they won't no doubt understandably.

With April, there are still 8 months left in the year. A lot can happen in 3 months.

A lot has happened in the last 3 months and no mistake.

That's true, in an extreme but potential future, the government can increase restrictions and penalties while
[Show spoiler]extending the forced shut down and stay at home order well past April 2020 for another six months or more, resulting in a permanent shut down under government control, like something out of a movie where the Star War Empire takes over by force, or as in V for Vendetta, the government takes over for the sake of public safety. Trading in freedom for safety as is happening now.

But hopefully that's not the underlying plan, and the warmer weather results in a major drop in the virus, as with the flu each summer, where there are hardly any reports of people with the flu during the warmer summers. That would allow full production of the PS5 and other businesses to start up and resume again. Until it all starts up again in the winter...

It’s possible that it’ll be delayed, but I think it’s more likely that it’ll just be a supply issue. Meaning it’ll release, but nowhere near the numbers that they desire. Same with the SX. Spencer reiterated yesterday that production was exactly where they wanted it to be, but that doesn’t mean it’ll stay there...

I'm not posting in the Last of Us 2 thread because I don't want an inadvertent spoiler, but yeah that was kind of upsetting. But I understand they're reasoning. Amazon already told me it might not arrive on the release date. I would have had to buy digital if it hadn't actually shipped haha. But I guess now it's just wait and see. I hope the PS5 isn't delayed. Even if the game like Godfall get delayed, I still want it for the advanced specs on PS4 games. I don't think it will be delayed though.

Warm weather hasn't stopped it causing havoc in warm countries. I hope you're right, but the scale of this thing, and the impact, is off the scales - you can't compare it to flu.

If you want to get technical, you can. CDC in the US puts flu numbers between Oct ‘19 and March ‘20 at a minimum of 39 million. Death from the flu at minimum 24k. That’s just the US. This virus is nowhere near those numbers.
Don’t try to twist what I’m saying. This virus is horrible, and I’m, in no way, trying to downplay it. I’m merely providing a numerical comparison.

July for pre-orders are possible, if things settle down by summer with all this going on. Though pre-orders can be delayed too, as we saw with some games like Watch Dogs Legion and Cyberpunk 2077.

Technically the impact of a corona virus (of which there are many types including the common cold) can be compared to the impact of the flu (and variations of it like the 1918 - 1919 pandemic flu) according to the CDC,
[Show spoiler] direct from their site, "about 500 million people or one-third of the world’s population became infected with this virus (1918-1919 flu). The number of deaths was estimated to be at least 50 million worldwide with about 675,000 occurring in the United States." https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-res...emic-h1n1.html
Back in 1919, they didn't have a vaccine for that either.
[Show spoiler]The flu is one of the worst illnesses I've experienced years ago. Horrible nausea being the worst effect of it. I imagine this new one is just as awful and worse in terms of sickness. Intentional intense heat to the point of sweating for a couple hours was something that helped a lot from my experience in a fast recovery, though everyone is different. The body gives clues to this goal through the chills and fever.

It's tough not to talk about the impact of the virus in this thread, but I'll conclude here and try to focus on the PS5.

I hope you're right dude(s). It's a pointless debate, and one in which I hope I'm wrong.

You are right about flu being terrible, I only had it the once and I don't even remember it, I was just out for something like two weeks.

I don't have any pre-orders but because i didn't buy the Back Button before a lockdown, i was planning to check if my local store had stock since it's the only retailer in the UK to have it and it's OoS online. Plus, they charge delivery.
