Not very fond of this BD-Live stuff. They should invest more in bonus view 1.1 it is a much better and fun making of feature

Kudos to Universal for providing both versions on the same disc!

Yea, because the theatrical ending was the worst in a horror flick in decades. Great flick until the end...

Wow talk about digging up a dead thread lol....but I just had to mention I found this in my local "CEX" entertainment store for $6 bucks with a slipcover and perfect condition from back in blockbuster days....still had some stickers I had to remove but noticed the price tag design.....I remember a few years back how this became one of those movies with a "rare" slipcover now that people were wanting to find everywhere....was just wondering if the rareness of this slip for us collectiors was still alive?

Similar story to you. Bought this on Amazon back around Black Friday time for $5 and of course, didn't come with a slip. Found it in my local movie/music/comic store with a slipcover for around $8, I think and snatched it up immediately.

Despite some shortcomings this is one of my all-time favorite horrors but never upgraded to blu until now -- and was happy to wind up with a slip. Didn't realize it was a rarity.

I found The Strangers (sans slipcover) at the five-dollar rack of a used movie store last year.

This is one of the better horror films of the past 15 years. I'm always genuinely creeped out by the scene where one character looks out her window and sees the person with a mask standing in the lawn looking directly at her.

Why not just create your own slipcover? I mean I like slipcovers as much as anyone as I create just about all of mine. I often find myself thinking I can create a better one than the studios could anyways.

Back when this movie came out, I made tons of custom DVD covers for it for fun. They weren't anything great and it was the first time I ever used Photoshop but I remember being so into the movie, I spent a lot of time doing that.

I'm not opposed to creating a custom slipcover but how exactly do you do it? I feel like I wouldn't like anything that wasn't cardboard and didn't feel like it could be real. Mind sharing your process?

Glad to see the love for this movie as it was also one of my favorite horror movies of recent years, maybe even at the top of my all time horror list.
I know for years there was talk of a sequel, which I am kind of glad never happened so they couldn't go the cheap and easy million sequels straight to home video release. Weird too that the director never made any follow up films in general.

And yes the scene when Liv looks out the window and sees the girl outside just looking into the house ... chills. Also when she initially knocks at the door and her face is hidden and she talks in that barely audible tone... shudder. Now I want to watch this again ASAP. This movie always creeped the hell out of me. Partially because is tapped into things I imagined growing up, if life was a horror movie, etc.

I never bought this, just never got around to it, but now that you guys have pointed out the slip is rare if I do get it I must have the slip too. Luckily I have a chain of indie used movie/music stores in my area which is good for rare finds. I see that Amazon has this for $9.99 but I am betting those are newer prints without slips.

I've always absolutely loved this one. Been hoping for a sequel. I know they've been going back and forth with trying to make another one but we'll see. I picked this one up last year during Halloween at BB for like $5 i think it was, but I remember this freaked me out when it first came out because it's something that can/did happen.

I totally forgot that just a few months ago they finally announced a sequel (with a new director) is supposed to be filmed this summer but they have stopped and started so many times over the years that who knows if it ever will happen. I think the original was so perfect as a horror movie that a sequel isn't really necessary.

All of this reminded me that this movie was also compared to, said to be based on the French-Romanian horror film Them (Ils) which I totally forgot about as well. Seek that one out too if you can.
