so the 3D and 2D movie is on the same disc. That just kills the hope that the IMAX 3D version will be on the disc

i was hoping this wasnt the case, but i thought it was stated that they are on separate discs. hopefully they wont botch it (like underworld 4). really hopefull that they dont use the same disc in the USA.

don't think the version in US will be different i mean why would it. If they would release the open matte IMAX version in US they would do it in the rest of the world also just like Dark Knight,Titanic and Avatar

the chance of this having the open matte version even if its on a seperate disc in the states 0% percent

it hasnt until underworld 4. the 2d on 3d disc version is far inferior to the stand alone 2d. fact unfortunatly. i had hoped they stopped this practice as all indications seem to say this release is seperate 2d and 3d discs. infact the listing on this site says its separate. so stop making me worried. but yes please give us open matte!

Yeah U4 was a botch job, it can be done well by other studios as Piranha 3DD has both 2D and 3D on same disk and both versions look good.

An IMAX version would be sweet! I hate those black bars, it ruins the 3D experience in any movie!

Next month I am going to pick up a Target gift card from local Kroger and afterwards I'm going to purchase online the Target Exclusives of the Hunger Games, The Avengers and the Amazing Spider-Man.

I saw today that Wal-Mart has some sort of preorder deal going on in stores. I think you get a digital copy early when you preorder, and there was a pic of a "mask" style exclusive case. It said "DVD case", but they might have meant BD too.

Sorry for no pics and not be thorough enough, but I was in a hurry and I'm not interested in digital copies.

Is the Target bonus really a DVD? If so, I'll just be getting the regular 3 disc set.

I missed this in theaters, and was not a fan of the Raimi Spider-Man films. Is this one worth a blind-buy if I can find it for $15 - $20 on release day?

Most definitely! I saw it in theaters on July 7 thought that it was absolutely amazing (no pun intended). Marc Webb did a fantastic job directing this movie, it has a lot more depth than the Sam Raimi trilogy ever did and stays very true to the comics. The best Spider-Man film I have seen yet! Also Denis Leary, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen and Sally Field were all great in their roles!

Okay, sold! It will, at the very least, most likely be a demo-worthy disc. I'm also a pretty huge fan of Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, so I'm sure I'll at least enjoy it way more than the Raimi trilogy. Thanks!
