Haha! For that price you think they'd at least throw in a slip!

I've noticed that blu-ray's here in Australia have been going up in price lately (I understand that that price on Red is in NZ) when they in fact should be going down due to the strength of our dollar. Most new releases at jb are now $34.98 on the week of release, and generally go up to $39.98 the following week. Rewind 6 months, and most new releases were $29.98 on the week of release, and went up to $34.98 the following week.

I was shocked today to see that jb had a price of $52.98 on the Resident Evil Afterlife 3d 4play set. Maybe it's due to less competition since Ezydvd is pretty much just an online retailer now, but that was half the problem why ezydvd failed in the 1st place, because of their extremely high prices. I wonder how many more of these big retail chains have to fail and go under before the rest of the big foolish Australian (and international) companies get the message, that being greedy and charging extremely high prices just hurts their business in the long run. What they need to do is take a long hard look at companies like boarders, who went belly up due to not being sensible and reasonable with their prices, retailers should use companies like boarders and Ezydvd as example of what not to do.

^Aussie prices are just crazy sometimes. Which is why I buy almost no Aussie releases any more. $40 for a release that you can get from the UK for 12 pounds? ($16 converted, approx) That's just insanity.

Red can be got from the UK for about 20 converted dollars. So what justification can there be for doubling that locally?

I bought the limited edition today at JB HiFi for $25. It's about time they marked down the price on this one!

Better than when I got it release day for $32.95. I picked another copy up for $12.50 with the jb deal and traded it for some great films with slips.
