Does anyone know if the French BD+DVD pack coming in June from ESC Editions will include the French end credits music with Donna Summer and Bruce Roberts singing the theme song in French? This was in the original DVD release but was not included in the BD when choosing the French audio track.

I first saw Daylight at a screening and at the time just thought it was ok.
I bought the Dante’s Peak/Daylight bluray double pack mainly for Dante’s Peak which I watched last night and enjoyed it a lot (another film I saw at a screening). Well I decided after 26 years to see Daylight again and I actually liked it a whole lot better the second time around. I have a fondness for these films because they were some of the first films I ever saw on the Universal lot in the screening room. We all thought it was hilarious that the song Whenever There Is Live was co-written by Sam Roman aka Edgar Bronfman jr. head of MCA/Universal and part of the family that owned Seagrams. The joke was wonder how he got the song into the film. The dude loved music and movies so his dad bought him an entertainment company. I will say he can take credit for the success of the company especially Universal Music Group. He also had some sizable hit films when he was there. Both "Daylight" and "Dante's Peak" are long overdue to be released on 4K UHD. The current blu-rays from Universal are a smeary, oversharpened mess that need new scans from the OCN with an HDR pass and a new Atmos mix that will loosen the fillings from my teeth. I really enjoy both of these and remember seeing "Daylight" opening weekend '96 and "Dante's Peak" the following Feb.

First time watching daylight tonight - I really enjoyed it, although I just like disaster flicks.

Watched this yesterday on BD and was horrified at how bad the final disaster scene looked, where they're sucked out of the water. It was an incoherent "muddy" mess. I remember first watching this back in the Universal Collection LD and it was always a great looking picture. I wonder if the print sustained some damage over the years. I mean, ILM did the visual effects, etc.
I think the tunnel explosion still holds up nicely. |
