Just curious...
I separate my 3D collection into 'kids' and 'general', mainly so my 10 year-old son can find age-appropriate titles when he wants to watch something in 3D.
(Back in the real world, he's more likely to be watching Res Evil 3D or Dredd 3D).

Anyone else split their collection up?

Nope, collector editions of size in one area, steelbooks another, amarays another. All alphabetically sorted with a few exceptions (all bond films go under 007 for example), and sequels go next to the prior film regardless of name.

I've had people try and poke fun at the number of Disney films I have. They are great films that I enjoy, thus I have them. I don't get why anyone would care (but some can't help but comment).

Across my BR/DVD collection you'll find: Cabaret, Wizard of Oz, Calamity Jane & Sarah Brightman Concert DVDs.
You'll also find: Nekromantik 1 & 2, August Underground, Murder.Set.Pieces, every Naziploitation film and most of Fulci's, Argento's, Deodato's and Franco's films.

I don't. Never thought of doing this before. May have too now. I think that great of you to separate them so that your 10 year old can see which ones he is allowed to see. Sign of a good dad

It's actually really handy for when he has friends around to watch a 3D film.
He knows they can only choose a title from that shelf as they're all kiddy-friendly, and I don't have to be concerned about upsetting parents by letting their kids watch something they ordinarily wouldn't be allowed to view.

I just bought a media center to organize my blu rays, no more stacks on the floor. My first question is this: Do you keep your 3D discs separate from the 2D discs? I have close to 400 discs, and just alphabetized the whole set. Didn't want to break up movie franchises that are 2D/3D, like the new Star Trek movies, or The Pirates of the Caribbean set.
Question two is for slip cover collectors: Do you leave the slip on the case when you put it on the shelf? I'm not a slip cover collector, but I have saved all of them.

I don't organize mine by alphabetical or have the 3D movies grouped together. Instead I organize by genre, movie franchises, and by some directors I like.

Not a slipcover collector but, if it comes with a slipcover to me it's just a plus.

Is that the most that that tower holds, or is that all of your 3D? i need a tower for my 3D but im just about at your number of 3D and need a tower that holds at least 600 ...

I need something like that. I have my 3D collection on separate shelves from my other BD's, but I'd love to separate them off completely if I could find something like that which doesn't seem to take up too much space. That would clear space on the shelves for other BD's which are piled on the floor right now.

What make/model is that, and do you remember where you bought it, and the approximate price?

I separate my 3d from 2d, except for sets i keep them together,,, and i remove slips from case and keep in storage totes.... my 2 cents...

I mix them in with my normal Blu-rays as I organise by genre. After all, 99% of my 3D has a 2D version included. (The exception is Jurassic World)

When you say, "media center", are you saying a NAS system or attached USB drives or sort of a book shelf that can store 400 Blu-ray cases? Anyway, I sorted mine by genre, then alphabetically, but one section is 2D and the other is 3D, even if the 3D includes the 2D disc as well. We have over 2000, including almost 400 3D. But lately, I am thinking of just doing a alphabet scheme. Keeping track of the movies is getting to be a chore and I hate chores.

I have all my blurays together except for the silent films which I keep separate.

Use bookcases made for bluray/DVD but like so many, have already ran out of space for adding any more. And with discs on the top as well, already giving a cluttered look since two shelves were stationary and the cases are piled sideways.

My silent movie collection has more storage space and I could easily exchange the two, with the silent films simply being separated by being in different areas of the room. Might do it. Would just have to separate the discs from the vhs tapes because my bluray collection is by my speakers.

I think I just resolved my problem but now have a lot of work ahead of me!
