Game of Thrones is now the subject of much ridicule but the first 4 seasons are as good as it gets. The reason why I personally prefer The Wire and Breaking Bad is that both of those shows are consistently strong from beginning to end and have incredible series finales. For me, GoT drops the ball badly after season 4. My favorite shows like Twilight Zone, X-Files, Lost, Dexter, either have lacklustre filler episodes (Twilight Zone, X-Files) or the quality of the show dips after a strong opening (GoT) or drop the ball in the series finale (Lost, Dexter).

The Wire and BB have almost no filler episodes, pretty much every single episode pushes the narrative forwards or reveals insight into the characters (or both) and both series end spectacularly.

Mr. Robot, Mad Men, Better Call Saul, Fargo, Peaky Blinders, and Hannibal are all better than both. But Breaking Bad.

I like them both, but since I felt one show got better as it went on, and one got worse, the easy pick is Breaking Bad.

Too different to compare but even when GoT was in its peak it couldn’t compete with Breaking Bad - other than perhaps a few stand-out episodes. I also felt GoT was a little OTT from the beginning and the last season especially is infamously bad.

BREAKING BAD easily for me!

I never saw GOT yet. Also, BB having its own Spin-off in BCS which is emmy nominated and doing damn well only shows BB is way ahead of GOT.

Lets wait and see if GOT will ever get a "spin off"

BREAKING BAD!

comparing what is widely regarded as the Greatest TV Show ever to GOT is insulting.

Breaking Bad. I personally didn't like BB's final season, but I enjoyed the series as a whole more than GoT. Even leaving aside the final episodes that had to depict a book and apparently a plot twist that's never been written, the gratuitous extreme violence and rape always kept me from fully enjoying GoT.

Breaking Bad is far away from the greatest tv series ever, only mainstream media is calling it that, people who have watched 10-20 tv series in their lifetime.

Breaking Bad is better as a whole. But at it's best moments GoT was superior to me. Nothing compares to something like experiencing Red Wedding for the first time, for example.
