I feel like Tim Burton is the director equivalent of a classic rock band that just goes on tour and plays the hits rather than make new albums. Like, obviously this is a new production, but it's clearly just regurgitating all the tropes and styles of Burton's previous work, and he's been in this mode for over a decade now. I guess I'd rather have that than no new Burton stuff at all, but I don't think it's a coincidence that Big Eyes was his best work in a long while and it's the closest he's come to breaking out of his comfort zone.

Tim Burton has always been one of my favorite directors. It's good to finally see something new out of him. If what I've read about Beetlejuice 2 is true, it will be gratifying to see him tackle the Neitherworld.
This looks great and I for one cannot wait to see it. This may be the best Wednesday Addams yet. |

I wouldn't say I had high hopes for this, but I did have hopes. Jenna Ortega is an excellent young actress, and looks like she nailed this role too, and Burton certainly 'fits' the Addams' aesthetic but this just looks too polished and 'modern' for my taste. Eh, I'll maybe give it a look if it's out in October for some Halloween vibes.

Good trailer. I loved the pool scene!
What I worry about is this: If Wednesday goes to witch school or whatever, what's special about her when she's surrounded by other weirdos? The character has always worked as a contrast to what's normal and trendy. I worry that that might be lost if she's at goth Hogwarts. But I realize you have to do new and different things with these long-established characters. And that setting could be a good visual playground for Burton. I'm looking forward to it! |

It was always hinted at that there's a whole society of kooks and weirdos over and above The Addams Family, especially in the movies when they have their get-togethers. It'll be fun to actually explore that world that they only hinted at in the past. Looks a thousand times better than the recent god awful cartoons |

Yeah, that trailer looks all kinds of amazing and I'm totally on board! Fortunately, despite Gomez looking like a creepy goblin child molester, it looks like he'll only have a small cameo part thank god.

Even if I DID like him, I think he's the WORST choice for the role of Gomez. |
