I thought the photography was wonderful, but the Samuel L. Jackson narration was corny and just plain awful

I was hoping for a mid to late August release. Guess they kinda wanted to put this beside the release of the Lion King blu-ray.

Thumbs up

I'll probably blind buy. I've always had a fascination with big cats !

I'll be picking this up. If there's a coupon, I'll get it release day along with the Lion King

The trailer I saw for this (on the Tron Legacy BD) had the best picture quality I have ever seen (non CGI).

I don't know which one I want more, this or the Lion King blu-ray...

But holy crap... after reading that first paragraph, I think the movie would depress the crap out of me.

I think I may just end up passing on getting this. The $8.00 off buying both is great. But I hate paying to be depressed.

Watched this today, though on the UK blu-ray featuring Patrick Stewart's narration. I like Samuel L. Jackson's acting, but I'm a bigger fan of Stewart and it just seemed like SLJ would be a little distracting given Disney's habit of scripting these films. (All I would be able to think about would be "get these monkey fighting [crocodiles] out this monday-friday river!")

Overall the movie was good, though I personally enjoyed Bears better. Visuals were great, and this one seemed to have a more realistic "story" than Bears. That includes what really happens in the wild, such as a cheetah mom with 5 cubs to defend or an old visibly emaciated lioness who is a little slow on the hunt. Hint: if the kids don't like sad, watch Bears instead.
