I honestly don't know how to feel about Finding Nemo 2. I mean, I am not very angry or upset at the idea of a sequel's existence. Yet, one of the best things about the first movie was that it ended so beautifully. Marlin learned that if you love something you have to give it freedom, Dory found a family that accepted her as who she is, and Nemo learned that he can be strong if he puts his heart and soul into anything he does. It was a perfect ending and a great example of a happy ending done right.

Then again, Toy Story had the perfect ending too, same with Toy Story 2, and their respective sequels were some of the best ever produced, so the sequel could turn out to be really good.

At the very least, Ellen DeGeneres should be happy now that a sequel is apparently in production.

Well, despite the confusion over Andrew Stanton's seemingly dismissive tweet it looks like it's going ahead.

Ellen DeGeneres to return for Finding Nemo 2

Quote:
Ellen DeGeneres is in talks to return for the Finding Nemo sequel which Pixar has yet to officially announce, according to Heat Vision.

DeGeneres will again voice the role of Dory. The original film'swriter and director, Andrew Stanton, is set to return for a sequel based on his own original concept. Victoria Strouse is writing the script and Lindsey Collins is producing.

The 2003 release won an Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature and was nominated for three others. With a total of $867.6 million worldwide, it was the second-highest grossing film of 2003. The movie will return to theaters as Finding Nemo 3D on September 14.

A 2016 release date is being projected for the sequel, says the trade.
I'll fully believe it when Pixar announce it officially but for now I'm swayed towards there probably being some truth in the original rumours.

Cars 2 was an admitted cash grab, but otherwise, Pixar's slate of sequels have been really strong. I can't wait to see how this turns out, but I really hope they don't give most of the screen time to Dory.

Now its not a 1 for 1 in anyway; a new fresh franchise isn't a guaranteed hit, because they didn't do sequels, and because they did a fresh movie the sequels aren't coming or they're going to suck.

My sequel wants

1. Ratatouillie 2
1a.Ratatouillie 2
2. Incredibles 2
3 Nemo 2

I'm on the fence about a 2nd Nemo movie.. but Ratatouillie was a great movie! so I can see a sequel for that.. speaking of that I should get that blu one of these days.

How the hell did I miss this news?

Pixar's golden age is over. It was a good run. Glad I was able to go along for the ride.

Why does everyone assume that? They still produce great movies. Cars 2 is the only one that was really just meh. But that had a lot to do with the behind the scenes drama it dealt with. A change in directors isn't usually a good thing. This wasn't Pixar's doing, it was Stanton's. He came to them with the idea, they said go for it. If Stanton has a story he thinks he can tell, I see nothing wrong with that. It seems like people are eager to watch Pixar fall...

Man I'm definitely in the want for Pixar to continually succeed! It's all about how each situation is handled...

But don't you find it highly suspect that he's suddenly interested in a sequel to his greatest financial success following the catastrophic box office failure of John Carter? That's called "retreat", gentlemen.

People have been bugging him about a sequel for a long time. In his interview, he admitted that he was going to do a sequel after the second John Carter, but when the second one got put on hold (cancelled more like it...), his schedule opened to it becoming priority. It works in his favor, yea, to get back in Disney's good graces, but I don't think this is him retreating into familiar territory. I fully believe he was going to do a second one regardless. It was just a matter of when, and the time just happens to be now, because his schedule can accommodate that now.

Yet another Piuxar sequel?

How about something original like Wall-E?

I am really looking forward to seeing the original for the first time on BD though.

I know it's going to be great!

Don't worry, Pixar has three or four original movies coming out over the next four years before we ever see this.

The time is now in order to recoup the losses.

The Good Dinosaur, their untitled movie that takes place inside the mind of a little girl, and their Dia de Los Muertos movie. So three original films.

I'm a big fan of Pixar flicks, but this is as pointless as the "sequels" for Independence Day.

Give us a sequel to The Incredibles, the only Pixar movie that truly warrants a sequel.

The incredibles sits in the same spot the Nemo follow up was in: Until Brad Bird decides he has a story, there won't be a sequel. That's what Stanton did too with Nemo. Now here we are. So if that's any indication, we may get an Incredibles sequel. It's just a matter of when.
