Not as good as the first, but I enjoyed it.

Two things toward the end bother me though...

[Show spoiler]1. When Nick was on the stairs when the guards were looking for him, he basically just stands in a corner and the guard walks right by him. He did not look concealed in that corner at all, so this completely ruined believability.

2. The mafia just happened to be waiting at the spot their car crashed and came to a stop? Sorry, no. If they had been following behind them I could see it, but they were in front of them waiting. No way to anticipate that spot like that.

[Show spoiler]That corner Nick was tucked in when the guard ran passed him was roomy and he was tucked in. It wasn't like he brushed right by him.

As far as the second point, that Mafia clan was heavily connected. They had military and local governments in check -- they probably did have eyes on them during that chase and beat them to that particular point and ambushed them.

Also, maybe we'll get an extended cut like the first film that will add more scenes to stuff like that? I hope so.

Both are fair critiques. I hear you. But I am wiling to forgive.

Generally the movie is a great time. I would love a third part.

Does anyone know why this didn't get a UK/Ireland release?

I saw the trailer but never saw the first and don't know anything about it other than the actors. Sounds like a light action crime thriller type movie, which could be good. General consensus seems to be it's good but not as good as part 1.

I'll consider this one for theaters.

It's an action drama. Wouldn't say it's light. I know it's streaming but it may only be the R rated cut. The UNRATED version is on Blu-ray. That's my preferred version.

Action drama, these can be great. Like the movie Heat with DeNiro Pacino.
Unrated might add more action hopefully on blu ray.

Thanks.

It's still playing in theaters, that's good.

My only exposure to the 1st film before watching it the other day was parts of it on cable TV airings. Regardless, I can definitely see the difference in quality between the two. The 1st had solid character dynamics that kept it interesting for most of the runtime. The sequel meanwhile spends about 75 minutes on setup and exposition that could’ve easily been 30 minutes. Though there’s a little bit of decent banter between Big Nick and Donnie that keeps it from being completely dull. Once the heist/action finally gets going, it’s reasonably entertaining and tense. The pretty inspired twist ending also has me optimistic about a potential 3rd film. It was a fine enough watch overall but not much more.

6.5/10

5/10

So many improbable coincidences.

It's true - timing is everything!
