Is this release region free or region B? Based on the pix it states region B.

I'm still importing amaray so I guess it's okay if I order a steelbook and (breathing heavily)
[Show spoiler]open it
(take another big breathe)
[Show spoiler]and watch it.

Cheers,
Gui.

Can you check what video codec is used? AVC or VC1?

If they are AVC they could look better than the New Line/Warner VC1 version.

I can't wait till VC-1 goes bye, bye. I hate it with a passion and I wish to the stars that Warner would someday stop using that crappy codec. I ain't holding my breath and I know that will probably never happen.

I'll never open any of my Canadians steels but if a cool steelbook appear anywhere else I could get it to watch.

But it's easy to say, I'm only speculating if I would have a sealed steelbook in my hand I probably couldn't open it...

I've just checked "The Fellowship of the Ring" and it's a VC1 codec.

The previous posts state that there are an English track and English subs so yes, it is possible...

I have seen that and think that your guess is right. But this comment earlier on worries me and I wanted to be sure: Metropolitan don't have forced sutitles but when you watched a film in english language, it gives no choice than French subtitles. Like "District 9" if I remember.

This was apparently released on March 24th, wish I'd known.

I'll call FNAC tomorrow to see if they have a copy in. I'll report back on the subtitles.

District 9 only offered French subs. However, they are not mandatory on D9 meaning that you can turn them off if wanted. LOTR offers French AND English subs so the choice is yours to turn them on or off and choose the French or English ones

Hope that helps,
Cheers
