Here is my post from over at HD Digest

I just watched this in 3D last night on my 110" screen. Aside from a hand full of good shots, the 3D was very mild to almost non-existent. It's a shame because we had my wife's family over to watch this so she went out and bought 2 more 3D glasses so we could all watch it in 3D. I felt bad showing them my great 3D setup with such a disappointing 3D presentation. I apologised to everyone when it was over about the bland 3D. Even my wife thought it was underwhelming. Much of the movie does not lend itself to a good conversion anyway. Too many close up dialog scenes which distorted faces. Definitely not worth the price to import! Definitely not worth the 3D disc at all.

I love Aronovsky he is one of my fave directors, but this film is just awful 3D or no 3D.

In fact they could come and perform it live in my lounge room and it'd still stink!

I'm not surprised by your response, that's what I was guessing. Once I found out the movie was available in 3D I decided not to go see it in the theaters so I could see it in 3D. I basically saved money by waiting for the 3d release.

if 3d won't help it, then I'll have to see what some craft brews do for it - maybe if I go a bit crosseye'd it'll improve the depth

Sorry to hear about that but thank you for the heads up. I have heard good things about the action in the movie, so may check it out on plain old DVD to see Russell Crowe fighting against Ray Winstone (Beowulf).

Disappointing to hear but I'm going to stick with my pre-order for the German 3D release. I'm desperate to see the movie and I need to see the 3D version with own eyes to make up my own mind. Thanks for your thoughts on it though.

Same here. Went to see it in 2D Theatrically and very curious to experience the 3D difference when the Blu-ray 3D arrives.

I still have to see this movie in 3d at some point and watching the movie for my second time after getting the target exclusive bluray set made me feel more than ever how perfect 3d would lend and fit with this movie. I saw it in theaters once in Dolby atmos, and then watching it last night for a second time at home just reconfirmed to me that that the movie is a masterpiece imo. The visuals are stunning and the interpretation and expansion of the Biblical text is imaginative, clever, thought provoking. Still one of my favorite movies this year.

I just ordered the german steelbook, 29 euros with shipping and it has the best of both worlds target's bonus disc and best buy steelbook plus the added bonus of having the 3d version not released in the US. I think it's worth the price.

You must be in the west coast, maybe. Hoping the 3d is at least ok.

I like it! Much better experience than when I saw it in 2D theatrically. The thrill is worth it.

Not sure what to think about this 3D release. I saw the film today for the first time and was greatly impressed by it. It's a visually marvelous film, too, and lends itself to being something that would look great in 3D. However, as this was a conversion and not an effort done in native 3D I am just not sure if it's really going to be impressive. Add to that fact that the filmmaker is not a fan of 3D and this was a studio mandated 3D conversion for the global release outside of the US and many other territories, and I'm not sure if it would be worth importing. The early words aren't exactly inspiring me to consider it but I am curious anyway as a 3D fan.

I picked up the Target exclusive which is probably the closest to a 'director approved' edition, with all of the bonus materials. I also think the artwork on the slip is fitting. Comparatively, I'm not sure how I feel about the art of the steelbook, but I am also someone who is a major steelbook fan (and it sure outclasses the standard art under the exclusive slip version).

So the German edition would have a steelbook and 3D presentation (two things I love), but the 3D might be bad, and I sort of prefer the slipcover artwork on the Target one, which is basically a director approved quality of release.

Hmmm.... I should probably stick to the one I have but I am still wondering about the 3D.

IMO, the 3D conversion is very good. Stereography has come a long way since Clash of the Titans 3D & The Last Airbender attempts. The depth is very noticeable = pronounced; people, backgrounds, campfires, etc. It adds realism to the epic.

The Hong Kong version has only the region-free Blu-ray 3D disc. The HD-Slim case and cover-insert are entirely in English, as well as the overview and specifications. Looks like a U.S. edition. The only foreign language printed on the package is a sticker placed on the cellophane rap that you discard when you open it. Audio track defaults to English as first choice.

I am very interested in this 3D title. On the DDDHouse website I also saw Captain Harlock 3D, Hole 3D and Sammy's Adventure 3D. I don't mean to hijack the thread, but can anyone comment on these? Would they play on Region A? I thought I read that Harlock had an english dubbed version. Is that true? I figure if I order the Noah 3D I might give these others a shot.

Ordered my copy from dddhouse.com on July 30th. It's already here in San Antonio as of Sunday. Can't wait to see what it looks like in 3D...

Sammy's Adventure - I got from DDDHouse and it will play on your machine and really is must own for 3D, it has incredible 3D.

I don't know about the other 2.

I'm looking forward to hearing some reviews on Noah 3D. I'm a little hesitant to pull the trigger on this one.
