I go to Netflix's own website.
Under "Critically Acclaimed TV Shows" is Master of None.... A Netflix TV Show. Under "Docs & Reality TV" is Ugly Delicious.... A Netflix TV Show Shall I go on? Netflix is just the next iteration of HBO. Not to mention that recent research shows that the majority of Netflix is watched on a television set. Netflix should be treated like HBO... which is for the Emmy's. |

So, is youtube television? Of course not. Netflix is not either. It's a streaming service. I can understand why many would insist that it's some sort of network, but it just isn't.
The problem here is that Netflix isn't definable as it was in it's early days. It's expanded far beyond it's DVD rental days. Even now, you can't even get any sort of ratings because Netflix doesn't allow that information to be released and it doesn't have to follow the same guidelines that other networks on TV have to. Now, it's up to you how you choose to define it. The fact of the matter is that as long as they follow both Academy and Emmy rules, they have just as much right as anyone else to compete for these awards. |

Spielberg is a pretentious asshat. EVERYTHING is a "TV movie"; I haven't been to a cinema in a decade.
There is nothing inherently wrong with my 4K TV set up. Netflix has been delivering a superior visual performance to theaters for years now and my home setup yields a far more pleasant experience than any theater I have been to. I've seen so many indie movies I wouldn't have otherwise seen or even heard of if they had had a theatrical run before being unceremoniously dumped on Blu-ray six months later instead of Netflix attaining rights to them. |

The only reason I don’t like Netflix or any other streaming services is the terrible quality of the presentation. The theaters or high-bitrate/lossless media (streaming or physical) are the only choices for me. So until they have that as standard, I’m with Spielberg.

There is a simple solution. One award show for television. One award show for movies. It shouldn't matter if the movie was released in the theater, on Netflix, or HBO. They should all compete against each other.
Now, if the movie award wants to break it up by budget size, I can understand that too. |

1. People's Choice - People have bad taste in movies. Always been a pointless award show. 2. Critic's Choice - Critics have Rotten Tomatoes. Good enough. 3. Screen Actors Guild - Nothing says pretentious then actors voting for other actors. |

I and many others would agree with him. TV drama in particular has never been better and I say that as someone who grew up in the 60s and 70s.
