I'm good if this is the theatrical cut with remastered original audio (the 2.0 on the Blu-ray sounds very thin and hollow) and an Atmos track based off of the 5.1 remix. That would suit me down to the ground, but Warners will probably put the 5.1 on there as DTS-HD 5.1 with a separate Atmos track and no original audio.
Yeah, it's not Fox we won't get that lucky

This bodes well for a remastered release of Batman next year...

Pretty cool

Although, I wonder what this will look like. It may be a hard one to judge since the movie was shot with a diffuse look. Really curious to see how HDR handles this.

I have seen the stack of cans containing the original camera negatives for ‘Superman-The Movie’ at Warner Bros., and can now confirm that a new 4K scan (with a new scanner) and remaster of the theatrical cut of ‘Superman-The Movie’ is underway at Warner Bros. #supermanthemovie4k https://t.co/yfDUazGZJO

Superman '78, MoS and BvS UE are all I need as far as Superman UHDs are concerned.

Equally excited about this. Equally excited that CapedWonder will be working on this in some capacity.

CapedWonder is run by Jim Bowers, who has spent the last 15+ years collecting, restoring the photo archives of the Christopher Reeve Superman movies. He's worked with Warner Bros on creating and providing various photo assets for home video box art. He is one of the folks making this 4K remaster happen.

You can see his work at CapedWonder.com

Of course, I hope they do NOT burden us with a UHD box set because SM 3 & 4 are terrible crap. Returns is OK but I could live with that just on blu-ray.
If you think it's the only Superman film that matters, you will automatically dislike anything after it. I like the film for what it was in it's time, but I don't understand this level of "worship."

Don't misunderstand me, I will be getting this on day 1, but...do you really want to see Superman flying at the speed of a kite, and saving people in buses until the end of time? I don't.

I still think it's one of, if not the, greatest comic book movies ever made. Doesn't stop me from enjoying what came later, I think Man of Steel is rather good.
